I have a 455 with block casting years 72-75 . I need the appropriate power steering brackets (3) so I can install power steering. Pump included is ok. I am not sure what years will work but it seems that from what I have read I need the years indicated. Any help would be appreciated

    Thanks, Rob Cook

Need to know what type of pump you are installing to know what kind of bracket you need. I don't have any brackets, but I used V6 brackets (and pump) from the original 231 V6 in my Skylark when I did the 455 conversion, so I'm guessing Buick 350 and 231 brackets will work as well as long as you use the pump for the brackets. Same goes for the alternator/ AC side.

This is a picture of the front bracket of the stock 1977 231 V6 bracket. Interesting eh?

I use all of the factory v6 brackets on my 455 when I swapped it into my '75 Skylark. The only thing I had to do was lengthen the AC/alternator arm about an inch. The power steering bolted up without a bit of trouble. Any Buick power steering setup from '72 on should be compatible as long as the pump matches the brackets.

Very interesting. I will take a run to the bone yard and try and look at some if I can find them. I really don't mind what setup will work, I just have to get the job done. I can make them as a last resort but would rather get a set that fits. There are three holes that it attaches to, two in the head and one in the block I believe. I was told that the holes do not line up if its the wrong years or block size. Thanks for the in put.

Nope, near as I can tell, all Buick 350's, 455's should be the same. I "think" there are only two pump types for seventies. A bigger rounder resevoir type of the early 70's (and possibly late 60's?) and a thinner resevoir type of the later 70's.
