I’m swapping an SBC 350 (previous owner put in) out of my original 4 speed 69 GS350 and putting in a 1970 Buick 455. I need a bellhousing, flywheel and a big block z bar.
It's my understanding all Buick bellhousings are the same? I know my 66 v-6 stuff will fit a V-8. Anyone know different?
I thought so but I saw some advertised for sale as specific 4 speed housings and am not completely sure if there is any difference.
Have what I thought is a small block bellhousing, and a member claimed in my for sale thread it fits over the flywheel on the big block. Check it out for yourself. He posted pics of his deal. Am going to still say what I have is correct for small block/smaller diameter flywheel, but the pics are there. In parts for sale section, just updated all my ads yesterday. Dave S. Dona Ana NM
I had the same bell housing on a 225/300/340 with a 3 speed and later a 4 speed on it. As far as I know they are the same.
Ok thanks for the info, I think I’m going to hold off until I find the correct casting. This way I know I have the right item. It’s already hard enough trying to do this swap with all the unknowns of going from a SBC to a BBB. Plus doing so with a manual car is even more rare. There’s a lot of info out there to do the SBB to BBB swap but almost none to do SBC to BBB.
Bellhousing, Bellhousing cover and zbar are no longer needed thanks to GSFred! Still looking for a flywheel.
Should still have Z bar I know I dont have frame bracket or ball stud I had to fabricate frame bracket for my car and modified up Z bar off a chevy truck before I found a origanal it has been repaired as holes were worn I will try and dig it out and get some pics out of town for a week so when air get back
