Not really 1970 center caps, but the silver '71 design.

    I have to ask....

What is up with the different hardware used to fasten the clips? Both of these have phillips head screws, & Brett has one with phillips, the other with the factory rivets (the ONLY way I have ever seen them). Were these repro'ed? I had what I assumed were original equipment on my car (with rivets), bought a NOS set in the mid or late 80's, still had rivets. So when or where did the phillips come in? :Do No:

Do you think that the retainers may have been mangled badly and then replaced at some time?

    No

But I suspect the Co. making them for GM changed. Actually the screws make it MUCH easier to take apart. I remember looking at my orginals & saying, the chrome still looks very good (too bad, as I tossed them in the trash) :error: :Dou:

    69conv Thats a BUICK!?

I've got a set of those on my 69. I guess they are 71 only and aren't correct to my car? I also have a set of black ones off my 81 Regal and I beleive they will fit and would probly be more correct. But I'v got to admit it, I like those silver ones the best and think I'll keep them on my 69

1969 and 70 used the larger, "ribbed" center cap bezels with black tri-shield inserts. The smooth bezel silver inserts were for 1971 and 72 only. 1973 on up used black inserts with the smooth bezels.
