I don't know which you need but I do know that back in 1997 when my dad rebuilt the TH350 transmission in my daily driver '72 Skylark he told me that he had to put a "State of Texas" case-saver in it. I had no idea what he meant and he said the little part is shaped like the state of Texas. Now that I see your link I can see why he called it by that name.
I've used one shaped like the first you linked. It replaces the anti clunk spring. Got mine from here. Works great. http://www.transmissionpartsusa.com/TH350_700R4_4L60E_1_piece_Case_Saver_p/470-000047345.htm The curved square tab should be pointing up and out the front of the transmission when installed. The lower notch should sit on the anti clunk spring ledge.
Im pretty sure the second one is an older design, made before the 700 existed. The first one will work for both, Most parts suppliers for transmissions wont even carry the older one as its not made anymore. Amazon must have a ware house of old stock. Stick a gob of assy lube on it and put it in like Ken G described. The snap ring buts up against the upper tab not across it. But they got the name wrong, Case saver yes, anti clunk no. It gives you a nice clunk because there is no cushion like with the spring.
Aahh ok, that makes it clear for me: Only one ( i have a kit of 5 ) replace the anti clunk spring. With the smaller ones i can keep the spring. have seen it in this video:
