I have known Mike for 17 years and he knows his Buicks!
He is a honest stand up guy and would never snipe someone
if he knew they were trying to buy a part for a restoration.
And...Just for the record...I've been sniped and I've sniped
a few things myself on e-bay. Is that against the rules?
It's all in the game of the ebay bidding, ain't it? :Do No:

That is a SWEET color Combo - you going to go for it David ?? If so Good Luck !! :beer :TU:

As for sniping .... its just another word for bidding late. I wouldn't bid against someone I know who saw the aution before me - be it 5 days or 5 seconds before auction end

On ebay, it's snipe or be sniped!

I never bid until the last 20 seconds, and that's when I put in the highest amount that I am willing to pay for that particular part. If I win, great! that means I was willing to pay more than somone else, and if I don't win the item in that last 20 seconds, great! It means someone was wanting the part more than I was, better luck next time.

Same thing if I go to a Public Auction, I examine something I'm interested in, I make a decision in my head of what the MOST is I'm willing to pay, I bid to that amount, and if I get outbid I walk away.
Like it or not, this is the way you HAVE to think when it comes to an Auction.
I have been to public auctions and watched people get caught up in the heat of the moment bidding, lose all common sense, and pay twice as much for an old used piece of junk,as what they can buy brand new for:Dou:

Ebay is a double edged sword. It's great in the fact that you can find an item from the comfort of your computer room that maybe you never would have found going to swap meets all over the country for the next 20 years, but at the same time bad, because there is a good chance that there is another guy sitting in comfort in his computer room that is tired of going to swap meets, and is willing to spend more than you in the last 20 seconds.

So, is a guy a sniper, or is he just tired of bumping into cows at swap meets?

All in good humor, no flames please:TU:

This car came out of Walla Walla a few years ago. I know the fella that owned it for years. He hated the orange & painted it years ago. He also took real good care of & when it left here a few years ago it was very nice.

I would love to own that car. Then I could finally have a car to match the tattoo.:TU: If it was a four speed I'd be selling the wife's Harley to get it.

Q code is Fireglow Orange alright, but there is no Q on the data tag, should be a - or - -, I would like to get that stage 1 park it next to my 350&LiLbit

Flint cars had the Q on the tag.

Thanks Dave! I was trying to dig through the old thread about the Fireglow to post a pic of the data plate w/ the 'Q' on it....

    Louie,

The - or -- is the "code" for SCO paint, mine is the same. Does anyone know if there were special order colors other than Fire Glow Orange available in 69, or are all "-" cars Fire Glow Orange?

David, Paint code Q cars were also built in Fremont. I was guessing that maybe Fire Glow Orange started out as a SCO color and then later in the year they introduced it as a "regular" order color (Paint code Q)? Anyone know if this is what happened? I thought I remember seeing an ad for it and it was a "spring" color?

    Thanks, Chris

I can't believe there weren't any other colors special ordered.

I know they were built at both plants I have the brochure. And I happen to own one of them. But I have not seen one car from freemont with the Q on the tag yet. But I have seen 3 from flint go by on ebay in the past couple years and all were tagged Q.

    Here it is. :TU:

Also you could only get the 3 interior colors with FireGlow Orange.

I haven't seen a Freemont Q car yet either. My Freemont car was built early, I am guessing before they introduced Fire Mist Orange as a regular color, so it also has the dash.

Bill- you REALLY don't need TWO 69 Stage 1's....If you buy that Fireglow, you should SELL that other red 'clunker' :Brow: :Brow:

Bill I know the car very well. As a matter of fact I found it in the paper one day while driving thru Bremerton, called a friend in Port Angeles & stayed with the car until he came & bought it that day. It is a very solid car which has had very good care over the years!! I've ridden & driven this car many times. It won Bronze at the nat's the first time it was ever shown. It is orange under the Burgandy mist color. And all #'s match. Call Mike he is a stand up Guy who will tell you everything that he know's with no B.S. I have bought 7 or 8 or?? car's from him since 1985 or so. You can't go wrong!!!!!! Lee in Ky:beer Ask Rick he know's Mike.

PDX Mike is a good Buick guy he built my Stage 1 convert 4spd tribute and did a dam good job on it. He also was nice enough to chime in and give me some great tidbits of info regarding the car and where he got the parts to build it. I just wish I would have purchsed the car from him not from the overpriced dealer. Live and Learn
