Would you run this?

It is a Comp Cams 96-202-4 with supposedly 2h run time.

I am worried about the distributor gear. Those markings look very harsh to me.
The surface pitting is not noticeable with fingernails. I polished it. I plan to change the camshaft with the engine in the car and not replacing the bearings.

I wouldn't take a chance on any used flat tappet cam. Do you have the corresponding lifters? The gear looks knife edged to me, probably run with a HV/HP pump.

No. Don't run it, a camshaft is only a couple hundred bucks and not worth the risk. That gear WILL fail, and is going to chew up your distributor gear to match it in short order.

That looks really worn for only 2 hours of run time, if that's true.

I dont see anything wrong with good useful cam. I have several sitting on my shelf I wouldn't hesitate for a second to run.......but I wouldn't run that cam.

my very first cam ever bought was a lunati I must have put 3500+ runs on it over the years......it doesnt have even a spec of the wear that thing has.

the specs on that cam are so small its cant be much over a stk cam
