Would I be better off with the dual plane intake?

A TA D/P intake won't be enough and the SP3 might be to much? To bad there isn't an Air Gap RPM high rise DP option for the sbb 350!

The sbc intake ports DO line up with the sbb intake ports though, so maybe adapter plates can be made to install a sbc intake on a sbb?

I know for fact it has 10.5:1 because I did the math CC'd the heads, measured block, etc I did all of that. distributor is a MSD pro billet with a 18-36 spread all in by 3,000(E.T and MPH was best with this) it has a giant 140gph pump on it, the return line may need to go to a -8 instead of a -6.

after talking to the machine shop who machined everything(I assembled) and the carb builder we now agree it needs 4.11's for sure. its only turning a 2.1 60' but thats because it needs some suspension tuning.

Thats the intake I really want on this thing I feel like it might have even better "seat of the pants feel".

    alec296 i need another buick

from your combo, I think something is off still, I think you should be around 410-420 hp. Maybe its the heads. I kinda feel it has too much timing. You should be mid 13s if not dipping 12s . Maybe jetting is off.
Get suspension dialed in then go back to tuning. Try staying in second like mentioned , maybe you have trans issues . Alittle slip can give up alot of power.

There is no reason why you cannot use the SP3 you have the compression for it and you can spin to 6200. I had 390 Hp at 6 grand on the dyno and was built by a race shop that knew Buick motors I have ported heads and roller rockers 10.5 comp. I can go out right now with no choke and that car will darn near start up without giving it any gas. That is how good the SP3 is working.

I have the same MSD dist and I use the largest stop for the mechanical advance stop. Then I can advance the timing more and I have it stop at 32* max all in at 2500 rpm.

I wish people here would quit using dyno simulators saying this motor can put out 450 hp and build a real 350 and dyno the darn thing.

now we have a guy up north that is going to build a max effort 350 with alum heads without ever building a iron headed motor and dyno it to see where the real world is at.

When Demko gets to the track at Quaker you are going to see where the real world 350 is at I expect a 13.30 time same as I did many years ago, my motor is tired out and still breaking into the 13's. When I was going to the track I ran consistent 13.50's and when I put in the 200r4 trans I slowed to 13.60's Mainly because I went to a 3000 stall with the 200 trans. When I had a 3500 convertor in and the 350 turbo trans I got my best 60 ft times with this convertor it was on the loose side.

I also have a very tight suspension that slows me down on the big end so my times are not what the motor puts out. That is why I have a good 60 ft time and not a low ET. I have big sway bars with Camaro spindles for the disc brakes and the center of gravity has been lowered. You absolutely cannot bounce the car and I can handle corners like a Camaro too.

You can get a set of Mickey Thompson drag radials and you will not spin on the line.

Your converter is a few hundred RPM below the crossover point for the dual plane to the single plane and the RPM drop for each shift is above the crossover point. Going to a dual plane will slow the car down.

#1 thing Id do is get rid of that T-400 trans and put in a T-350 or a 2004R
The 400 absorbs MUCH more HP than a 350 or 2004 trans.
I agree 100% with Mike above, keep the SP3, the dual plane will choke your engine.
My SP3 has ZEEEEERO drivability issues, its responsive, and it breaths, the 350 Buick seems to loose NOTHING down low with the SP3, TA did good with this intake:cool:

Have you considered a chassis dyno? It’s a great tool to dial things in and also to find issues with your combo. I would do the dyno and if it all checks out have the nitrous setup and dialed in. If you switch to 4.11 gears and then add the nitrous later I think you will regret it. Leave the gearing and trans alone the 400 is a durable trans. Your combo is SO close to being great it just needs that extra boost from the nitrous.

Same here and it is not looking good for Saturday the weather forecast I heard on the way home was for 60% chance of rain in the afternoon.

I think you are going to go below my 13.31 Get your 5 gal of race gas, timing at 32-34 and bang it at 6200...on the second run of course!

I could not go above 32* on the timing and that was with all race gas on Michael's dyno when he built the engine.
