The optimal positive offset for wheels fitting the 70-72 Skylark/GS is 0-1/2"(0-12.5mm) at most. The Corvette wheels have 2" plus(54, 58mm). I would say those wheels will hit something on the inside. They have too much back spacing.
I had a C4 vette and still have a couple 17x9.5 wheels with tires on it laying around. C5 wheels and C4 wheels are similar and interchange on the vettes. Curiosity got to me and I mounted them on the 65. Not even close in the rear. They hit the inner fenders way before getting close to the hubs
Going to a swapmeet this weekend. I really want to run 295s on my 71 skylark. With that being said, if I find a 15x9 or 15x10 rim, what backspacing should it have?
With a 10" rim, you'll want 5 1/2" or 5 5/8" back spacing. The 9" wide rim, 5" or 5 1/8". That will be optimal. When you get to using wider rims like that, there can be side to side differences due to the body's placement on the frame. You might have more room on one side than the other, just something to be mindful of.

4 1/2". You can run a P275/60R-15 very nicely on an 8" wide rim. That is what I have on the back of my GS.
I found a set but not sure if they would fit my 71 skylark or not. All four rims are [FONT="]15x8 with 4 3/4 inch backspace. [/FONT][FONT="]The tires and rims are almost new and the rears are 255/50/15 and the fronts are 225/50/15. While not as wide as I want for the rear, I can probably get this full set up for $600 so I would be ok with the 255's in the back till I save a little more money to buy 275's. Will these fit my 1971 skylark with factory front disk brakes? I assume the rear will fit with the 4 3/4 backspacing, but will 8" rims fit the front of my car?
