So my daughter's boyfriend asks if I will show him how to work on cars when I do stuff, he wants to learn. Okay no problem. My daughter says the tire shop says he needs a complete front end rebuild in a 90K mile Escalade AWD; I said I'll look at it. One tire rod was very slightly sloppy, very minimal but we'll change both, damn shop trying to screw people. Put tie rods in a 2006 Escalade yesterday.

Three hours, can they make things any harder? Gotta pull the front sway bar to screw the new ones in.

Oh yea, I was a working supervisor but he said some choice words as he busted knuckles. Ha, ha, ha...

My daughter works with me a lot on vehicles. Together we've rebuilt rear ends, changed injectors in diesels, all the pulley's and associated hardware when we do a water pump, alternator, AC compressor. Radiators, heater cores, power window regulators and door latches. You name it she's helped or watched. It's fun to watch her call BS on horsepoopy some guy is spreading when he's talking vehicles or bench racing. She knows fast and what how much power it takes to move how much weight.

Had to show him how to swing a 2# sledge though. For a 6'5"250# Marine in the Secret Service you swing like a little girl! Don't be sceeered of it, hit it!

It’s odd it needed it at 90k; I’m at 240k on an ‘07 Tahoe and so far it’s only needed a control arm (ball joint making noise). Also unusual to see an ‘06 with mileage that low.

Had the driver side tie rod coming out of the drag link just a the least bit wobbly is all. But he bought the parts so we changed both sides.
