The entire cities of New Orleans, Metairie, Chalmette, Kenner, Gentilly, Mandeville, Covington, Abita Springs, Pearl River, Waveland, Bay St Louis, Gulfport, Biloxi, Long Beach, Pass Christian, and too many more to list, have been destroyed by Katrina. The city of Slidell has been under 18 feet of water since Sunday, literally,no way in or out.I have many friends who I am praying that I will see again one day soon.

I am going to head to Waveland to see if there is anything left of my house. My car has been destroyed by 9 plus feet of water because of a broken levee.I have no idea how Poppaluv has fared.Chalmette was destroyed.

Literally, part of the state has been wiped out of existence, pretty much from Belle Chase South. The twin span, and 12 mile bridge,is destroyed. The Causeway,a 26 mile bridge, destroyed.Every home on the East bank of New Orleans, damaged by flood water and heavy winds.

Whether you believe in God or not, please pray.It could be up to two months before we can go back.I will update soon.

Thanks Cody,I am safe, but without a home and car.Pray for everyone else that is still in danger.

The city of Slidell which has around 25,000 people in their metro are has asked the Gov for 6000 body bags.

This is the worst natural disaster in the history of America.I can't even watch or listen to the news anymore. My heart is breaking for those I know, but know nothing about. And especially for those I don't know.

I cannot believe the destruction that this hurricane caused. I won't pretend to know what you and others are going through, because I don't. Our prayers are with you. Keep us updated as best possible.

All I can do is echo the others statements. I've been wondering as MS cities, as New Orleans is getting all the press.

You and all victims are in Loyd's and my prayers.

    May God be with you.

We are praying for you all!

I am feeling sick to my stomach this morning, and didn't sleep well last night after seeing the massive destruction of peoples lives. :ball:

Emotions I felt after 9/11 are resurfacing.

Words escape me at the moment.

i thank god that my relatives that were living in that area have all moved out long ago. all i can do is pray for all the people that have lost everything that they had. i also hope and pray that these people can find a safe and friendly place to recover from this castastrophe. i know we have some evacuees here in lafayette and will do what i can for them. whether our not you know or want to believe it but, this will affect the entire country and it's only just begun.

and god bless everyone involved in the rescue/relief efforts.

Just keep praying for everyone involved my friends.Thank you for your support in these times, and all I can do right now is just sit and watch the carnage.

There are dead bodies floating around, and they don't even have time to drag them out.All they can do is just push them away from the boats so that they can reach survivors.

Mississippi is destroyed,80% of the state is without power.Gulfport,Biloxi,Waveland,Bay St Louis,Pass Christian,Longbeach,Ocean Sprins, and all the other coastal cities have been destroyed.Miss is reporting 150 dead already, and still rising.

I am sitting here fighting back tears from the scenes. Not all that has been reported is true, but about 90 % is.

A man was in the attic with his wife and kids the house split in two.She was sucked out and has not been found. She told him totake care of the kids as he was trying to keep hold of her. That was a devastating interview to watch. The reporter was in tears as she was standing there listening to him.

    Just keep praying.

    Well,

I still have a house, but it is very unlivable. The entire bottom floor is destroyed.I am blessed thoughmy cousin is letting us stay with her.

The destruction in Bay St Louis and Waveland is devastating.Literally, half the cities are gone.Just piles of rubble.People living in drive thrus, under awnings, and in half constructed houses.

    It is sobering.

Gentlemen I am a Andrew survivor. I was in Miami when it hit so I'm with you. I have said so many prayers for you folks in all the states affected by Katrina. Any word on what happened in Lafeyette, LA. I have many friends there but have been unable to reach any of them. All I have is there home numbers. Any info would be appreciated. May god be with you and yours and all the others survivors of the horible tragedy. Sincerily, Ron Noel

Ron, FYI, Lafayette is just as it was before. We really didn't get anything from the storm. If you're having difficulties contacting anyone here, hang in there. The devistation down in southeastern LA has disrupted the communications somewhat. I haven't been able to talk to my brother in baton rouge for over a week now.

Daddio, I have a buddy in Lafeyette. His name is Tommy Simone. I believe he works for the city of Lafeyette. I know you have a lot to do but if you could maybe find the time to look up his number and pm me with it I'd really appreciate it. I might have the wrong one. Good luck to you and yours. Since I evacted early mon. I wasn't ther efor the chaos. We stayed in Quality inn for almost a week. My fiance'c mother-in-law set up rooms and arrived early. We were the only(except for a couple of other families) allowed to stay.Others with reservations were turned away due to mandatory evac. The rest of the hotel was FILLED with N. Guard and State Troopers. After a few days of being around and drinking w/ them, they started sharing stories and some video.Sick, sick disturbing stuff. Mothers who slit their own childrens throat or drowned them, child rapings some of the stuff you may have heard about gangs and shootings were on video. CNN said they may start releasing vidio w/ disclaimers soon. Some of the higher-ups said it would be too much for the country to handle right now. BUT I WILL STATE FOR A FACT 80,000 or so people from ST. Bernard (WHERE I'M FROM) will not be able to LIVE ON THE LAND for years do to Murphy Oil storage container collapsing and releasing 80-100,000 gallons of crude oil throughout the parish. :spank:
The Dallas paper calls it the worst enviornmental disaster to hit.
HAS ANYONE OUT THERE SEEN ANYTHING ABOUT THAT YET? :[http://www.cnn.com/2005/TECH/science/09/06/katrina.environment.reut/index.html
