Why would the old owner have put these pieces of wood in the rear suspension?

Should i take them out now that i have the chance?

I put one on each side of my Monte Carlo when I was in high school (1980's), poor mans air shocks to give it a little rake. not sure if yours are there for the same reason.

Take them out and put in air bags. Then you can set the rear height where you want it and change it whenever you want to.

Reminds of the “spacers” I put in the rear springs of my ‘63 Impala back in the day.

I replaced mine in high school with a pair of air shocks someone gave me. Made my car ride like it did not have springs or shocks when I had the A$$ end jacked up:D Looked coooool though:p

    Take those out of yours...

Both sides done, front sits high due to no engine

I read the thread title and immediately flashed back to working on my '71 Skylark in High School.
I remember getting mad when I'd jack up the car to do a tire swap and they fell out. I had to climb under there and carefully put them back in.

Before ya get all confounded and mistafied as to why I would do that....... Its on one of my parts cars. I sold the R arm to Riv guy out on Ca and need to keep the car mobile so it can be moved around. This car hasn't run in years and you can see in the pic that the driveshaft is disconnected. Would never drive one like that. LOL but back in my younger years it could have been a different story!

I wasn't condemning you Briz. I think its a great idea . I could see it wasn't a "driving " car . I applaud your ingenuity and craftsmanship . My hat is off to your sir .
