    JTY 1969 Buick Skylark

I would have posted this Friday but, it happened while in the middle of moving to our new house.

Friday afternoon I left school early to go with my mom to rent a large moving truck. We got the place and just as my mom was getting ready to pull out of the parking lot in the moving truck, my Skylark decided not to start. :)

After about 15 mins of thinking, and a few hits on the starter with a trailer hitch, I decided to ask the shop if they could fix my car(Mind you I'm about 25 Miles from my house). The shop had to call around to several places trying to find me a new starter(you'd think everyone would have one in stock), they found 1 starter local.

Oh it get's better, I go to pick up my car on Saturday, only to find out that the part of the reason my starter died, was a wiring short(Previous owners son tried to install an amp guage, shop disconnected). They had to spend about 1.5 hrs trying to find all the problems, rewire from my ignition switch, and alternator.

In the end, it cost me $222.02. Not bad considering the mechanic had to change the starter in a parking lot, on a slight incline. And, the guy stayed after hours since he promised my car would be done.

Jeez! that sucks! After the thermostat housing bolts broke off in the aluminum intake, and we tried to rig it back together, we got the new one on (this was 2 months after the whole thing started) and went to bed, satisfied that it ran. The next day, I wake up(after barely sleeping the night before;)) and hop in, ready to go. Now it's all new, new tranny, intake, cooling system, rebuilt carb, everything. Hit the key, it starts and the starter teeth get stuck. So I can't get it turned off in time and the starter fragged. :Dou: That was a pain, climbing under the car and holding a 9 lb starter at arm length trying to get the damn thing on. ugh.
