i have a 66 skylark gs 401 4 speed, been working on it for years. started off fixing rust in the floor pan and before i new it i had the car apart. fixwd rust dents painted car. rebuilt t-10 new bushings for body and suspension.tom telesco rebuilt motor. new wiring harnesses got almost everything back together but my taillights and dash lights dont work. brake lights and signals work ,headlights work. when i put a test light on the fuse for lights, doesnt work. i thought it was the light switch because i was getting juice to the switch but nothing to the tailights. i got a new switch but still no tailights. i dont understand why the lights space on the fuse block is dead. every other fuse has power. anybody have any idea what im not seeing? any help would really be appreciated. thanks, johnny

The dash lites are wired in sync with the tail lamps to let you know if you have a blown fuse.(safety issue). The running lamp power for the fuse panel comes directly out of the H-lite switch. It will be a Brown 14 or 16 gauge wire.Use a test lite to check the power coming out of the h-lite sw.If you have it, the next stop for that wire is at the fuse feed side in the panel. If you have no power there, you have an open or misrouted wire.I assume you put in brand new harnessing and I would believe you may have gotten a defective dash harness.Use the test lite to check your connections.Bill

none of the fuses are blown. you confirmed what i thuoght that the power came through the headlight switch. i got a new switch because i checked the brown wire at the switch and it was dead. i'll check the new switch and see if its good. hopefully its the switch and not the brand new harness. thanks bill, johnny

just checked, bad switch. 3rd one. had 2 old ones they didnt work. when i got the new one and it didnt work and no power at fuse i thought fuse block fed switch thats why switch didnt work. anyway i bypassed switch ,and fuse had power and so did tailights. hope i don't have a problem returning switch. thanks, johnny
