I'm almost done recreating the windshield frame to my '65 Skylark hardtop. (The old one was rotted away across the entire lower edge.)

What's the best type of paint to coat the frame with to guarantee adhesion with the windshield seal? (Is POR15 a no-no?)

Are new "safety-glass" windshields available for my '65, or at least, something safer than the original glass?

When I patched my front window channel, I top coated it with POR-15. Over that, I used the Butyl tape primer (if you're going the butyl tape route). It all seemed to adhere alright, but I only reinstalled the windshield a month ago, so I can't speak for it in the long run.

I'll second master series. you can also use por 15, I prime right over it before it drys for adhesion. you can then sand and paint with what you want. cured por does not have good adhesion quality unless you aggressively sand it before primer or paint. Wacko
