A couple years ago, I was using this software to rip the songs from a cd to create a usb thumbdrive with music in mp3 format. The thumbdrive I inserted int the usb port on my Colorado and played the music on the drive.
Why? because Chevy dropped cd players from 2015 & onward.
Somewhere along the way, Microsoft must have sneaked in an update which disabled a full RIP of the music. No worky no more. I know that this software is omitted in later releases of windows.
What software would u guys recommend to function like the ms product to rip the cds?

You can download VLC media player. It's well known and reliable. Be aware if you are running Windows 7 you need to get a new PC or upgrade the OS ASAP. In Jan Microsoft will stop providing security patches to Win 7. It is expected that hackers will actually more aggressively target Win 7 users as they know these are machine are not being updated and there is a better chance the machine owners are unaware of the vulnerabilities.... bad news.

My pc can not be upgraded to win10. I am running good virus protection & firewall protection and a lot of other stuff. My laptop (win10) is running similar protection.

Microsoft upgraded my computer with 7 to 10 without being asked. I liked 7 better.

What model PC do you have ? I'll let you know if it really can't run 10 or not. Win10 will actually run on a lot of older systems just fine, even a 10yr old system depending. I'm in the middle of doing upgrades for a bunch of clients right now.

Okay, that is an iffy one for the upgrade. Doing a bit of research, you would probably need to put in a cheap video card as the built in video on that model doesn't play nice with Win10. Depending if you don't have a lot of data and you really wanted to keep that PC, one could get a video card $50, 250GB solid state drive $50 and a used Q9400 Core 2 Quad on ebay for less than $20 and breath some life into it. You would need to have some IT knowledge, have a relative with some or an honest local computer shop to do the upgrade.

Going to keep my pc as is and run it. I have a dell laptop with win 10. Not a lover of win 10. The best O/S that MS loaded on a pc or laptop was win XP..

...understand your reluctance, often "painful" to update hardware and/or OS when system running OK, but as stated above and in other threads, issue will be security. If you'll be running Win7 box on home network, you'll risk letting malware in so it can get to everything else. In my case, not as much OS but apps I use that may not play well...

Every OS has had its vulnerabilities. Windows 10 will as well.
