Is anyone using distributor cam grease (red sticky stuff) for the plastic to metal contact parts instead of white lithium to prevent hardening over time? My dad has heard other car guys are doing it. Cheers, Mike

i am considering what grease to use for that too. I am thinking about a silicone paste grease or a lithium marine grease with ptfe.

I ALWAYS use Kendall Super Blue grease. NEVER hardens, has NO Graphite in it, I use it on EVERYTHING even wheel bearings. Holds it's consistency even when you go back to check wheel bearings, lets say, 5,10,15yrs later. Can be used to lube rubbing blocks on points. Since it DOESN'T contain Graphite it WON'T discolor the points. AND I could go on for hours.
It's what I used to grease all the front end components after it came out in the 70's. The car now has OVER 300K on it & I haven't had to replace anything EXCEPT the center link, which had NO grease fittings.
IF I knew what I do today I would have drilled & installed grease fittings & I more than likely would not had to replace that.
Personally I believe in the stuff. Can you tell??? A little more costly than regular grease, BUT in my mind well worth it.

Napa or other parts stores sell Sil-Glide. Works good.

Just don't make my mistake and use the red suspension grease from the grease gun. Only thing I had handy one weekend working on my work truck. Rollers slid good, but when it got hot, the smell in the cab was pretty funky, and took quite a while to go away.

This is the best to use for window items also window motors.

I use super lube or sil glide....or any similar all silicone based grease that is light in texture and never hardens.

Super Lube 41160 synthetic grease works for me.

Can I assume this might make all four of my windows operate with the same amount of enthusiasm?

They all work but while the front passenger window appears to be running on rocket fuel the rear passenger window is a woodburner :) The other two are somewhere in between.

    Cheers

Not necessarily, the motors have a lot to do with that also..

And amperage. Old crusty wires make for lots of resistance. I put a beefed up alt on my car and the windows work much better as long as the engine is pushing over 800 RPM to excite the alt.
