Please advise what brand of window crank removal tool you use. I bought one at autozone and it didn't work.

Going to try sears next. If our snap on guy wasn't such a no-show I'd even pop for one of those.

    Any help would be appreciated.

I'll assume it's the flat tool with a "U" shaped slot in the end?
At times it can be hard to catch the clips behind the cranks.
Try holding the tool into the handle & turning the handle. As it rotates you can usually catch the end of the clip & get it off.

Put the tool parallel under the long axis of the crank and kind of feel for the prongs to engage the snap ring and tap the end of the tool to out the ring. Make sure you're sliding the tool between the handle and the plastic washer or you'll never get to the snap ring.

This is the one I use. It has worked on just about everything to remove the clip, commonly referred to as a "jesus" clip.

thats the type you need but you can take a shop rag run it behind the handle and door panel pull it like your trying to polish the bottom side of a pipe slowley the rag will catch the end of the clip and most of the time the clip will stick on the rag. but not always thats the jesus part:pray:

I use a piece of bent coat hanger and make a hook on the end so it's almost looking like a 7. Snag the loop haning off the end of the clip and pull. Make the pointy end face the back of the crank so you don't scratch/tear the door panel.

Thanks for the input. That's the tool I got, so it must be "operator error" on my part. I like the shop rag idea too.

    Back on it this weekend.

    Thanks again.

That's right. I never found it. After that, Before I go to remove a handle; I made sure I have spare clips on hand. I keep a box of spares in the glove box.

Check the photo for the wire I removed from the window crank handle. There was no clip.

What's up with this, was this the something done by a mis-directed former owner, or is it factory?

The crank handle still won't come off, and I can see all the way to the shaft for the window regulator and nothing else appears to be there to hold it on.

    ?????

Here is a photo of the wire. It is about 10" long and was wrapped around the handle shaft.

That would be a homemade clip.

The PO of my car put the clip on the wrong way and then cover the splines with JB weld. Took me 2 days to figure out I was setup. Finally got it off by hacking away at the crank itself. I haven't looked at the other side for a reason.
