I have a 70 gs. It had the cheap China made window cranks. I bought the ones from the parts place (very nice metal ones... highly recommend them)
My question is I see there are plastic washers, and metal springs that can be placed between the cranks and the door panel. Which one is to be used? Or are they both to be on there?

Both, spring under the door card and washer on top of the door card between the handle. Sean

I agree,,, the spring keeps the handle steady and firm away from the door panel along the plastic washer that keeps the handle from rubbing the panel..

Are these springs supposed to be positioned under the door panel at the interior door handle locations as well, or are they only used behind the panel at the window crank locations?

I have never torn down an original with the springs still behind the panel, so I'm curious.

Just behind the window cranks, and the large end faces towards you

Springs are supposed to go under the door panel in order to push the panel against the crank so there's no gap between the crank and the panel
