Will a late model Carter AFB fit a '65 401?

I just purchased a '65 electra with a 401. The carter that's on it is gummed up with 20 year old fuel. I have a 750CFM squarebore carter AFB (edelbrock/weber clone) that I used on my old 350, would this work on the 401?

    Thanks!

Scott: The newer style AFB will bolt on your manifold fine. The original air cleaner won't fit because of the larger opening (5 1/8"); throttle linkage hookup is different; fuel inlet is in a different position. Other than these "poopies", the nailhead loves a 750 cfm, and many have made the change. Hope this helps, Frank. :beer

I'm running a carter 750 competition afb on my 401, and it runs a lot better than the stock one. frank was right about the air cleaner. I'm running an aftermarket chrome open element .
