will a 72 nova 8.5 posi carrier and gears work on my 72 skylark 8.5?

Hay guys i have a 72 skylark 4 door I have been running at the track it has an open 273 geard 8.5 10 bolt i just scored an 8.5 nova 10 bolt out of a 72 ss it has 373 and a posi can or will the carrier and gears work?

the rear housing is diffrent leaf vs coil

the guts are the same?? even if the nova rear is a c clip style?? is the buick 8.5 also a c clip style? will it work on the buick housing even if we dont use the c clips ??

ps I have a 72 skylark 4 door that was going to be a parts car for my gs455 1970 and my 71 convertible skylark and now its a fun 1/8 mile car at my local track it ran a best of 8.652 @ 83.68 mph in the 1/8 mile


I dont think its to bad for a 4 door with a stock 455 mild cam and 246 stage 1 carb headers th400 and open 273 diff. and stock tires what do you guys think it will run with a posi and 342 gears?

also i built this car under 3 grand with the nova rear its fun to beat ford lightning trucks
