No, different bellhousing design. The nailhead takes a nailhead-specific TH-400 (ST-400 in nailhead form). The 455 takes the BOP TH-400. Unfortunately, what you have will not mate together without an adapter, if one is available.
ok.... I have a tranny behind the 455. (sorry didnt mention) Will it all fit? I'm thinkin bolting up to the stock mounts, clearance, and driveshaft?? :3gears:
Nothing will bolt up! Carky, You are looking at a significant amount of work and fabrication to make this happen. I can understand your wanting to use what you have to get the car on the road, but I think you have to be honest with your personal capabilies. If you have done things like this before successfully, I would say go for it. If not, I would do a lot of research before I got started. There my be someone on the list that has successfully done this and has had the car on the road for a while to sort out issues like linkages, cooling system and other durability issues. Just because someone has managed to bolt or weld a 455 into a 64 Wildcat doesn't mean it is safe or roadworthy. Be careful, the life you save could be your own! Good luck, Tim McCluskey :beer
Its possible but with a 64 wildcat you're going to have to use 67-70 Riviera stuff as its the closest thing to the X-frame. I did something like the details of what this would involve in a thread about putting a 455 into a 65 Riviera. That has basically the same frame as your Wildcat so read up over there. Its not easy but its atleast easier than I'll have it to put a 4.1L V6 into my 64 Riviera.
