New to Stage1 world, Currently have a Mallory HEI that prevents the use of the original forced air intake hits the snorkel on that side. Will any 70-73 455 distributor fit the 72 Stage1 block? Will pertronix billit fit? and allow original air intake? Thanks!
Yes, any 70-73 455 distributor will fit and work. Actually, there are other years of BBB that will work, too. The big difference between all the distributors is how they affect the timing of the engine. Example...a Stage 1 dist has a more agressive curve than an Electra. An Electra dist can be re-curved by a pro like Ken (our resident dist guy). That's the short, quick story. Can't say about the billet fitting the air cleaner, but others will respond.
John, I don't have a shop. You can contact Ken, his ID here is techg8, his business is in CT I'll leave a link. He's a good guy, ASE + knowledgeable, he can help you out. The exact right dist for your car is a rare, and crazy expensive one. http://everyday-performance.com/parts_store.htm
The 1112110 Distributor is a good distributor to use with a cammed engine. It has a low amount of mechanical advance so you can use more initial advance. http://www.everyday-performance.com/distributors.htm
