That is a 64 kickdown switch and bracket. Also, do you have any documentation for the "X" means dual quad in the listing? I'm guessing here, but if the kickdown switch works as designed it also probably has a 306 intake from 64 and not the 316 for the 65/66's. Yes, they are differences in the kickdown and coil mounting bosses.

i am interested in this car but i would like to know if a cloned g.s. is as valuable as a standard wildcat conv. any guess as to the value the way it sits. to tom miller i still have that t-37 but i really like conv. fred

The markings on this block are not consistent with other `66 stampings both in font and spacing. This does not resemble the `64 or `65 stampings either.
The Buick service manuals have an error in that they illustrate the engine code stampings are upside down as viewed from the front of the block. My experience is, in reality, the stampings are right side up, same as the VIN stamp. Apparently, this is either a restamp by an avid reader or this is the only block Buick stamped according to the shop manual.
I`m still left wondering whether this is a 401, 425 or even an original Wildcat GS? Still appears to be a special order color, though. That in itself makes it very unusual and the car looks great. Would be great to see pics with the Fawn interior. I`d love to have it!

    Topcat Got TORQUE?

There is NO way the switch pitch(indicated by the two lugs) can work with that 64 plunger style KD switch. The carbs are wrong so you can bet that the 2x4's was added at the time of the re-build.At this point(throttle rod also does not have the right bends)......the one thing that might sway my opinion about it being a true GS is the code on the rear axle housing.......if it's not a 3:23 posi.......then this 'Cat is not a GS. I will look at my motors but i think that the W in MW is now the M in MX.........

Get that axle code......and it's not hard....that will be the final test in my book.

Right now as it stands in my mind......it's a rare special order paint car in a very desirable color.......is it a GS?.....maybe, even though the glovebox sticker is wrong.....the valve covers are right and those lay over the valve cover wire loom brackets are right for a Cali car(this car should have the A.I.R. stuff if it's a single 4bbl car)....if it was then the heads have been switched out to eliminate the ports in the exh. runners ......the axle code will determine if it's a GS......

    Topcat Got TORQUE?

    Thanks Scott.

Here's one more test........the trunk lid GS emblem looks to be in the right position.......it was a "short pin" emblem as compared to the longer pins on the rear quarter GS emblems that were held on by nuts. This emblem was held in place by "gripper" barrel clips that popped in the holes and grabbed the pins of the emblem when they were pushed in and that allowed the use of shorter mounting pins.
There are NO access holes for these pins on the underside of the trunklid on a true GS 'Cat because of the "push-in" emblem mounting.

    Pictures please !
If the underside of the trunklid on this 'Cat has holes drilled to allow mounting of the GS emblem with speed nuts.....and the e-bay ad says the trunklid has been replaced? ........if there's holes......it's most likely a clone.

    Topcat Got TORQUE?

Even if this is a clone......it is more valuable than the standard conv :Brow:

Look at all the options and the special paint........

99.996969% of the rest of the population will think it's a correct and original car when they see it

Buy it and enjoy it......head turner where ever you go :3gears:

    Hey guys...

Just remember every time someone asks me for a picture, I gotta call an 80 year old guy and he crawls in, under and around his car, and then drives them 24 miles to my house.
    :kodak:
Then he doesn't understand that he can delete photos from his SD card or he doesn't know how, so he drives into town to buy a new SD card, even though I can take everything off the card and put it on a CD for him. Anyway, it's a bit of an ordeal. I just can't do that to him anymore.

The auction on eBay ends tomorrow, we'll see where that goes. Then after that there are at least 3 people who want to buy it but don't want to start bidding on eBay.

So, thank you all for all of your help. If anyone is seriously interested in this car, I suggest you make your way to Hastings, MN and crawl all over it yourselves! You're going to have to drive, or trailer it home anyway.

If it were me, I'd want to come get it, and drive it home!
    :3gears:

    Peace all!!!

And for the price of the car, you'd get to have as long of a conversation with Roger M, who is a heck of an old guy, as you would care to have. He's probably forgotten more about automobiles than any of us will ever know, and that in and of itself is worth at least $1000.00. Because if this is a clone, and it's as sweet as it is, he's the guy that did it.

    Trust me on this!

    Topcat Got TORQUE?

Please let us all know how this sale turns out. Beautiful car but not a 2x4 or GS car in my book unless the rear end is correct and the trunklid looks right....then maybe.........

Hey all. I'm getting ready to re-list the car and I will have some additional photos shortly. Hopefully I can put it on an auction with a lower starting bid and see what happens.

    :Comp:

    Stay tuned.
