This morning we attended a local GM dealer (Reaume Chev). She had spoken a great deal about trying a Chevy Volt. So she & I took one for a drive. She really liked it. But the cost even with the trade-in (2015 Cruze LT) + loyalty + 13000 government , the difference was $20000+. Too much $$. Instead she purchased a 2018 silver Cruze RS Redline - a very nice car - black rims, tinted glass, black "bowtie". This is her 3rd Cruze (2011, 2015, 2018) and we have like them all.
    Now get used to "stop/stop"!

I rented a 2014 for several weeks and was impressed. My wife and I tested the new one but we wanted a stick and a sunroof, and Chevy doesn't offer both, so we got a Mazda 3. Still, an underrated car that is a nice addition to the Bow Tie portfolio.

I recall watching a certain news channel a few years ago and they were running a hard line anti Volt campaign for some reason. It was strange to me. The Volt never got much public support for some reason.

  6. my wife has a 2014 Chevy Cruze LTZ with RS package. it's a great little car. she recently started to research what her next car will be. I was trying to steer her towards awd crossover type vehicles but she says Subaru's are for Rosie O'Donald type chics and she doesn't want one.

It's due to morons who wished to politicize everything about the government bailout almost 10 years ago. They felt the Volt was the result of a government mandate, which is ridiculous considering the Volt was a concept car before the economy soured, not to mention a car with that much technology simply can't be created out of the needs of the economic climate.

Rumor is that GM will drop the Volt in 2 years. Here in Canada, the dealers are allowed something like 4 a year. The Bolt is in the same restriction. Canada does not sell enough cars to gain extra special vehicles. Same problem exits if a Canadian wanted to by/order a new Vette

The Volt is a neat curiousity/novelty vehicle.
    For 40,000 bucks I'll take a Tahoe/Silverado with 5.3 and 4wd, oh, and a posi/G spot 80 rear:D

Do you want me to teach you how to use the quote feature?

There is one thing that I am sure I can teach you:

It ain't any of your business how I spend the money that I earn. Gimme some of your money and I'll allow you to sway me. Need a routing number for my bank?

If I were in the market for a compact car, I'd definitely prefer a stick shift, wide rubber and A/C. If I have to drive a small car, I'm going to have fun with it. For now, my tRusty '92 Plymouth Acclaim is doing a great job. Wish it was a stick shift.

I heard / read somewhere that all manual trans will be a thing of the past in the near future. Get it while you can.

I too chose a Mazda over other mid sized sedans once. In 2002 the Mazda 626 was the only vehicle that offered a V6 with a 5 speed manual. That was a fun car. In 2016 I bought a VW Jetta. It was a 1.4 litre turbo with a 5 speed manual...it was a quick and nimble car...got over 530 miles to the tank! Traded that in for my Mustang....6 speed manual...it gets 230 miles to the tank LOL! Smile per gallon I suppose. They say the 10 speed automatic is a bit faster...but rowing the gears is what makes me grin! :)

We were gonna get the Golf with the stick and then my wife made a scene at the dealership because she felt they were discriminatory towards immigrants. No VW in my household....for now.

If it was a GTi, I would have been more than livid. :D

VW dealer/ICE ? We, for the most part, are all descendants of immigrants. I just have a problem with illegals, And I'm safe-betting that she is not illegal. Even so, not their place to decide. I would have left as well. Sorry, off topic.
VW GTIs have been rated high as far as grins per mile.

Cruze still offers a stick shift. Nothing like pounding thru the gears!!
I had a '76 Pontiac Acadian (Chevette) 4 spd stick, yellow, hatchback. So much fun to drive. My son and even my wife learned to drive that car.
