Why Street Racing Is So Damn DUMB!

Happens so often here in LA--you become numbed to it---one just before
Christmas where guys killed a Mom and 4 year old kid,both guys are in jail
awaiting trial(Camaro and Infiniti) racing on a city street.A few months
ago a Mustang hit a street pole at over 100mph,broke the stang in half--
good news both guys were dead at the scene,don't know if they have
found the BMW they were racing.The WORST are the "rice bags" with their
fartcans etc---you will see them WEAVING in and out---CHASING each other,
makes you wish you had a "photon torpedo" you could lock on them with:af:

that's sad...and horrible, it would be fine if it was a santioned race event like pittsburgh raceway, where they put jeasey borders so this type of **** wouldnt happen... or if you're going to race in public atleast make it on a sideroad where theres no activity other then you and the other racer..

 

I have to fess up to doing my share and more street racing when I was a kid. That was on two lane roads between bean fields for anything more than a first gear to the red line kind of thing. Those first gear 'races' were stop light to stop light, maybe 200 feet?

These people, every last one of them from the spectators all the way to and ESPECIALLY the drivers of these cars, just too stupid to breathe on their own. Based on the video, 1) These are serious race cars, 2) Spectators ON THE TRACK!, 3) No guard rails or fences to protect people, 4) VERY crowded area, 5) No kind of safety seemed to be in anybody's mind. :af:

If you are one of these kinds of 'racers', first SHAME ON YOU! Stop before something like this happens. If you know someone like these guys, get them to stop. Dumba$$ stunts like these do nothing but hurt our sport, at best. At worst, people get killed. Other people have to live with that the rest of their lives, knowing they killed another person doing something DUMB DUMB DUMB, or knowing that someone they loved was killed by somebody else doing something DUMB DUMB DUMB! :rant:

I say confiscate the cars, arrest the drivers and charge 'em with vehicular homicide, arrest as many spectators as possible and charge them as accessories and take EVERYBODY's driver's license for no less than five or ten years, with no possibility of getting it back for any reason up to and including driving for work.

Sound harsh? Then you AREN'T PAYING ATTENTION! :blast: Go look at the video again! PEOPLE DIED! Race where it's safe and legal. People get hurt there too but not nearly as often and 99% of the time, not nearly as badly.

 

And aftrewards, get into a fight over helping or not.

We had a local hot rodder killed in Flint a few years ago. Some idiot came into a parking lot where everyone was hanging out. Started spining his tires and spraying gravel all over the place. The victem just went to talk to him, guy left came back with a gun and killed him.

 

The right to bear arms has a lot to answer for.

The right to bear arms has nothing to do with this. The firearm used was most likely obtained illegally and not registered by a civilian who is LAW ABIDING! It's not so much the right to bear arms as it is the idiots that get ahold of guns....people with insane backgrounds can alot of times get ahold of guns, but it doesn't matter wether the right is there or not, if an idiot wants to kill someone bad enough, they are gonna find a way to get a gun, steal it if you will, and do the dirty deeds.......and if they can't or don't get a gun they'll think of some other way, that's just how twisted and messed up our society is these days......

In This country we gave up high powered and semi automatic rifles.
Small arms were not part of that.They could only be obtained legally by a very small group of people.If you have a society that has millions of guns in circulation then it is inevitable that the so called bad ones will find it very easy to get guns.
As for the increase in murders most of them are not gun related.
I handed back 2 SKS's because after a lot of soul searching it came to the question did i have the right to have that much fire power at my fingertips.
Do you know what the answer was NO NO NO.

Unarmed and proud of it.I would not like to live somewhere where i had to be armed to feel safe.

Well I'm not gonna argue with anyone on the gun issue. To each there own, mine is a .45 ACP, 9mm(german ww2 gun), .38 special derringer, .22 LR derringer, .22 LR Luger plus many others. People kill people not guns. There is many ways to die and sometimes I think my kids are gonna kill me yet.

About the street racing- idiots who are too stupid to keep thier lead feet in check should not drive period. I'm still young but I've done my share of messing around on the roads, but always on a back/side road at the right time... when theres no one else around. I also never 'mess around' with other people in my car/truck whatever I'm driving at the moment... my buick when its finished will see a ton of street cruising and car shows, and occasionally a stoplight kill, but nothing unsafe/stupid.

About guns- yeah I own one, and it stays hidden at home, and it would ONLY ever be used in self-defense. I also own a .22 rifle... for popping cans/bottles at my dads house, which is harmless, and it stays hidden and unloaded as well. The people with bad backgrounds... well sure they shouldn't own a gun, but if you ask around, you can get anything illegally, so what stops them? The best we can do is put them away if/when they do act out... on the other hand, I don't see this as the problem, I see the problem lying with morons who think they are "gangstas", especially guys my age who think owning a gun, a big set of rims, dressing like retards, and talking like retards with an a**hole attitude is cool and makes them tough. Was the guy who did a burnout at the cruise-in a ricer/thug wannabe? Because thats who acts up and causes problems at our local cruise-in, and once or twice more than just cops have set them straight... :af:

Its true, a**holes like these people discussed here ruin both gun and car hobbies, and the authorities see the only way to stop it all is tougher penalties, outlawing modifying cars, and owning guns... so all we can do is enjoy our hobbies responsibly while we can...

Cody you misinterpreted the qoute- It should read " IF you outlaw guns, Then only outlaws will have them" Meaning this leaves the law abiding citizen defenseless against people who are going to break the law no matter what.
