Why Does T/A Performance.......?

If someone from T/A see's this, feel free to chime in....Dave? Mike? Jim W. perhaps?

Why does the T/A catalog and website have its price list separated from the merchandise section?

I like T/A. I've bought lots of stuff from T/A. I send them Christmas cards.

But..... that is really a pain in the butt.

Not bashing.... just suggesting a more traditional approach where I see something and know immediately how many
hours I'll need to entertain street folk with my organ grinder monkey in order to pay for it all.

    Worked for Sears!

    Thanks,
    Bob C.

    catalog

    Makes sense, Rob.
I'd still like to see the website that way though. Much easier to modify when a price changes than the printed catalog.

Or heck... just do away with the price list in the printed catalog and put a blurb in there that says
    "prices subject to change.......blah blah"

    oh well...

When the TA catalog was first done, the main section was done on plates and we have been very limited with the changes we could do, (example we haven't had the Fisher balancer or The oil pan made from a stock core in over 4 years, but they are still in there). The price list was seperate so they could update it easier. We hear you and just recently switched the forthcoming catlog format to include pricing right in the main section, So you will see the write up, product pictures and customer cars all together with the price right there too. We appreciate any feed back and pics too!!!!!!! Chief!!!! Some product lines we will be adding are: engine decals, we will offer the entire Buick catalog. Wire Harnesses for the A-body cars. Performance Suspension Items. A quadruppled Nailhead offering. An evergrowing V6 Section, A full line of Carburetors, 100's of items that we have had but never have listed, (did you know that we have every single individual piece to restore a distributor?) and a few others that are still in the works.

The web page was done when I first started working for TA, I locked myself in my apartment with a catalog, so that is why it is like the catalog. I will address that also but that will be later down the road.

On line ordering, we have been contemplating it for quite a while, anyone that has bought from us in the past knows that we require additional info than most other companies, we know it's a hassle, but it is actually for the your protection. Interactivity is key to providing the right parts. We will continue to sort that out and will have it in the future.

    TA Website

    Dave,

I enjoy all the products that TA provides and am looking forward to an updated website. I have a good friend that can make it very dynamic using some excellent database web integrated pages.

This guys does this for a living and is very good at what he does. With him on board he could make your site very easy to search, put all the things on it you want and need and also make it totally updatable for you without you having to create webpages on your own. You would be able to log in and update as desired like you can with any database.

I can envision it now and it would totally rock. Similar to jegs or summit but possibly better.

As for online shopping. My idea was for a person to fill out either a webform with the questions or pick the parts and then have a comment section or ultimately have a piece of software that can look at the list of items wanting to be purchased and then chunk out a custom form which has canned question you need answers to be displayed so they can give you answers. The whole transaction could happen over forms/email if you want to head that direction. :Smarty:

Sorry, I get really excited when thinking of ways creating stuff for webpages. I am an information-haulic.

If you are intersted in his services send me an email at gsxnut@buickgsx.net

    Thanks

I've been in software for enough decades to know that the "nicest" solution isn't always the most effective. I fyou had hardwired prices on every page TA would spend a small fortune in time or consulting $$$ updating pages. I'd rather have `em working on the KB Wildcat Intake :Brow:

TA puts links to the prices on most of thier products and that's a pretty good fix.

    Dave,

If you folks are interested I can whip up a database that would update your site automatically when you changed prices or products. It'd be simpler to maintain than a FrontPage design. I can probably hook you guys up with cheap hosting if you're interested. I owe ya several favours!

Hey Dave!!! I shipped the cash today, overnight.

Once I get the parts, it's off to the engine builder!!! Engine and trans are ready to come out right now. Should have them out Saturday. Then the oil pan and heads come off and go to the builder with the new shortblock!

    Thanks for all the help!

    TA is awesome.
