Who's Still Kicking Butt?

This area seems to have gone dead.

Is nobody out there kicking Ford, Mopar, and Chevy butt anymore?

It's easy to beat the 60s and 70s cars. Well, mostly. Cars after mid 70s were a joke until about 2000. Now there is new muscle.

Can our old cars shut down the new high performance Camaro, Challenger, and Mustangs? Have you tried?

Opinions okay here. But if you have a real story start a new thread.

I got besides a new Dodge Charger Hemi RT at the stoplights, and we exchanged handsignals that were saying lets make a WOT run against each other.
It wasn't a WOT run for me (to much torque for the street tires), but the Charger was 5 car lenghts behind me anyway and at the next stoplights we met up again, and the Charger driver gave me the thumbs up! :bglasses:

Chargers are heavy cars. With a 5.7 they may only run a 13 second quarter mile. A 2013-14 GT 500 Shelby, however, runs 11.5 sec./ 127 mph off the showroom floor. With very little tuning and street radials, it runs 10.9 seconds of so. The earlier ones, 2007-12, only had a max of 450 RWHp. A 2013-14 makes 600 RWHp stock.

A Nissan GTR makes less Hp but has AWD. It is a giant killer from a stoplight running 0-60 mph in 2.6 - 2.9 seconds.

We will see about that GTR one guy is tuning one overhere to get it at the dragstrip this year.
We have a couple of 1000HP+ dynobench Skylines riding around here, one did a 1/8 mile runs last year and clocked a 7.9 ET so we asked were all that HP had gone to, we just got a mad look when we asked that...

Was out cruising yesterday in the nice weather, doing about 60 on the highway just going exit to exit (was testing out a new carb rebuild) and had a early 2000's Pontiac GTP cruise up on me real fast and then slow down and drive side by side with me. He took off once and I didn't take the bait so he slowed down and met up with me again and this time I floored it with him and he couldnt manage to pull away (mind you I'm in a bone stock 350-2). I got up to 80 and I let off... we ended up taking same exit and at the next light his car was smoking something aweful...I think it's racing days are over. :Dou:

seems like the manufactures are "de-value'ing" the old muscle cars, other than nostalgic value...performance can't keep up with the new stuff... I got my a$$ beat by a new caddy, i'am only running 11.70's but the caddy was pulling me all the way down the track:Dou:

I shut down a Cadillac CTS-V coupe, a SRT 300 and a Hemi Challenger last year at LVD with my Nailhead 65 Gran Sport .

Granted, all of these cars were MUCH faster than mine. It was just that none of the guys who owned them knew how to drive, or could master walking the car off the line. None of them could hook worth a damn.

Despite the transmission and traction control killing any fun, The 300 wound up turning high 14's, but at 110 mph! Never did beat me though.

The CTS-V put the car sideways at mid track, and decided drag racing wasn't his thing any more ( he did manage to gather it up though - I was impressed!)

The Challenger finally figured out how to launch softly, and cleaned my clock another 5-6 times in a row.

Sorry - lost my picture of me holeshotting the 300....

With Cam2, methanol and a 15lb boost leave at the traffic light, if my drag radials bite.....it's all over......Jack !!!

GrandNasty is lethal on the street. Many a Viper, ZR1, GT-R, Twin Turbo Porche, CTS-V, etc., etc., have been schooled by the Big Bad Black Buick !!!

    911 Turbo S 10.9 sec. at 123.7 mph

GTR at 11.0 sec. at 125.1 mph

Camaro 112.3 sec. at 117.2 mph

So pretty much, he had no tires left when he finally crossed the line. :)

Last Sunday a Chevrolet Volt was trying to push me out of the way on the left lane of the highway, I floored the 96 PA and he floored it to, he could not pass me and I was just pulling away slowly.
