I just saw a (expert) speaking on oil prices today. Supposedly we are looking at 60 by May and by mid summer 60 will be "in the rear view mirror". With the new administration contemplating a 1.27 tax on all fossil fuels this summer and the gready wall street speculators that are salivating over the low price of oil. We will see new highs in fuel this summer. I expect that Obama will be happy because this will require everyone to rely more on the government because many will loose their jobs or be unable to get to the job they have. This is part of the push for eliminating greenhouse gases. All well and good but hey Mr president wait till the science has caught up please.
I will not be buying a new Camaro, Mustang or Challenger as much as I would like to. Look for a large increase in gas guzzler taxes this year also. Unfoortunatly the wife is a smoker so I am already feeling the pain from the new taxes.
SO to all those that just have to have a new Muscle car I say do it now while you can buy gas because soon you'll be running it on something less available and much more expensive

I saw a new black Camaro last weekend in Akron, Ohio. Some young punk driving it. At least he has a longing for muscle cars.

I passed a maroon one on the way home tonight with the GM company car, GMC Canyon with an I5, I think the driver was eating a doughnut when I went by him, I will see if I can get one(Camaro) for next weekend's Michigan Buick Performance Fun Day at Macomb Community College,Tour of Macomb Community College Auto Shop. 14500 E 12 Mile Rd. 10 AM - 2 PM, Building M'
Will see! Please email me if you can attend so we have enough pizza, etc.

I think they are standing stronger then dodge for beating the gas guzzler tax. The 300 HP V6 is suppose to get 29 MPG, and I don't remember what the V8 gets but it's i the 20's also.
As for buying a muscle car, I like to try and pick those up when gas is high, and people start acting stupid about things like that.

You need to get a walking billboard and go stand on a street corner.

cray1801 Too much is just right.

After all the waiting you still will have to wait more to kill a V8. I hear only V6's for the next year or so, not much satisfaction in that :blast:

They prolly are GM captured fleet vehicles. They give them to those that normally get company cars to put miles on the early pre-production vehicles, looking for issues and feedback on the early builds.

They did sell a couple in auctions for big bucks.... I'm sure those guys get the full deal on those cars, so they may produce a few for the market too. Besides, the V6 is still 300HP with your choice of 6 speed gear box's! Far better than most cars out there

I have seen about 7 of them now. Saw a silver SS just outside of the Milford Proving Grounds. My son in law (2002 Z28) was with me, thought he was going to have a heart attack  When we go to the track he will never line up against me.

I sure hope we get to see the new Z28 some day.

Mast Performance already makes a cam ad spring kit to take the engine to 500+hp, that is their level 1. Level II 545+ hp but makes more power yet and has a 'slight idle" and level III is heads and cam and being tweaked right now...

These cars, stock, are pretty darn quick and don't forget handle, get great mileage, are comfy, safe, quiet and nice to ride in. I think it's pretty impressive overall, looking forward to a test drive. Give em their due.

I agree... I think these cars will surprise a lot of classic muscle very soon. The LS series motors are superior in every way to the pushrod v8's of the sixties and seventies. If GMPP continues to exist, there are off-the-shelf parts available to get to any horsepower level you could want.

Just because you want to kill one doesn't mean you don't like or respect them.

But this will be fun :bla: when I go by my first one.
