i would reccomend you rebuilding it yourself. just go get a rebuild kit with all the necessary gaskets and if you have any mechanical ability you wont have any issues. heck, i used to think i needed someone else to do them untill last summer. i completley disassembled, cleaned, and rebuilt my carb (rochesger 4gc) down to the pins, screws and valves. i reccomend a flat wide light colored work surface, a couple plastic zip lock baggies, some small needlenose pliers and smaller screwdrivers in addition to the ordinary tools. also some carb cleaner, various rags and a toothbrush will do wonders.
Carmen Faso in Buffalo knows the AFB for your Nailhead! 716-693-4090 He has done a couple for me, great guy! Ted
carb rebuild I am with Byron on this one. If you can change oil you can rebuild a carb. In addition to what he said you need access to compressed air to blow the passages out. The most common mistake I see guys do is to tighten the idle screws too much and put a ring around them. Once that is done they are ruined forever. Gently handel the idle screws.
And I agree with Doc, if your careful, methodical and take a few pohtos you can do this yourself, especially if your leaving it stock. However if you want to modify to fit your nonstock combo send it to Osbourn/Q-Jet or Faso/AFB. Dave B
