That depends on what you mean by fastest Buick. There's a few of us who witnessed Rod Hendrickson run a 7.19 ET in a Buick bodied, TA engine block car in 2010. There's also a Turbo car that has run a high 6, along with a Buick V6 rail also in the 6's.

  3. Tom, he means fastest stock appearing Buick. must run original intake and exhaust manifolds along with a near stock idle and a factory tire. these guys are amazing in what they can do with those restrictions

Didnt Jim Rodgers run high 11's?

  5. I believe Greg G has been low elevens or very high tens but i may be wrong.

Jeremy McNicol We had a good time

I know Greg did a 10.99. Yes this class is well into the 9's now. Lane has done 9.80's. Dudek also got into the 9's. Now the rules say u can run an aftermarket block so this season I believe u will c couple more 9 second cars.

Now if you are talking entry level Buick my wife will be racing in this class this season with Gessler level 3 heads on a 13-1 463 and I hope to tune my butt off and c a 11.99. So there should be 1 Buick you could pick on . She wanted to go faster then a legal Pure Stock 71 Buick could go. With this in mind we will have alot of fun in this class. What kind of #'s u wanting to run?

BTW Greg is a great guy and could help with questions. U should check out Gessler Head Porting

might do a 69 lost 400 car. Thats if I get it. got to sell the other car off first and then pay some bills just want it to go mid to low 12 with it and look like I just restored it. around here it would be like taking candy from a baby to race the car. I here Greg is a real cool guy to talk to. Then again so is Mike at Ta and all the other Buick guys i have run across and dealt with over the years. My plan is to get the car done and go with my brother and his boy and our buddy and his car and make a trip to the nationals. I have never been and when I make plans then something happens. not next year. going if it kills me or have to kill someone(just joking). anyway that way i can meet all the coolest car people around.

Maybe Greg is going to build one of those after market blocks and do some nines??

    It could happen.

    To my knowledge:

Greg Gessler has been the only one in the High 10's with Cast Iron parts.

Jim Rodgers is stock appearing and has run low 10's but does have TA Heads. (Still Stock Appearing though)

Not sure if anyone else has been in the 10's and still Stock Appearing. On average most of the Stock Appearing / Cast Iron equipped Buicks are probably in the 12's with a few guys in the 11's.

Anyone have a list that will document the Fastest Buick in Pure Stock Trim as well as the Fastest Buick in F.A.S.T. Trim ? (proably Gessler in that format)

Cool Cars and a blast to watch!

I've had a bunch of GS and Skylarks over the years and my latest one is by far the funnest (To Race and Build)

Edit: Forgot to ad - If we took Jim Rodgers Motor and installed it in my car I think we would be looking at a Stock Appearing 9 Second GS! His Power and my lack of weight should easily get us there!

    BUQUICK I'm your huckleberry.

Jim have you ever run your car in FAST trim with steel wheels and bias ply tires? I've always wondered how much the et would change compared the sticky tires.

I've also always wondered what Greg Gessler's car would run with slicks since his 10.99 run was with the G60 Goodyear bias ply tires.

Anyone know who has the best E.T. for a Pure Stock Buick ? (That has actually raced the car at one of the events).

Jim, how is the Rebuild coming on your motor ?

I don't know all the Pure Stock rules but judging by your MPH they must allow "some" engine mods? Those are some very impressive #'s especially for that weight. Very cool indeed

I don't think "pure stock" means what most people think it means! "Pure stock" doesn't mean pure stock anymore, or did it ever? :)

At the GS Nats (BSA) in 2010 I ran a best of 12.43 @ 110+ with my pure stocker. No porting, no polishing, the manifolds & heads were as installed at the factory. CR was 11:1, stock bore, cam was 210-230 @ .050, 260-285 adv with .455-.465 lift. Weight was 3750 + - with me in it, 3.73's with a 28" tire, a stock 13" convertor and a 750 Q-jet.
