For those that used a non-GS400 radiator with a 455 transplant in a 1967 Special, Skylark, GS, wagon, ie a standard style aluminium or brass/copper/OEM radiator with a straight outlet on the top of the radiator...what hose do you use for the top hose? Here's a treat...
Have an after market al 455. Forget who made the al radiator but can check if you want. Think it was griffin.
I have a 65 with 455 and cross flow radiator. I was able to use the stock 300 engine crossflow radiator hoses. I believe the 67 will be the same if using the crossflow radiator.
Goodyear spun off its Belts and Hoses biz into Veyance Technologies about ten years ago, then Continental bought Veyance a couple years ago. For the most part it’s the same people, plants and products. Patrick
It looks like the old ‘Gatorback’ serpentine belt became ‘Elite’ under Continental, and now they’ve made that name the new umbrella name for all of it. I think it’s the same (and good) stuff as before. Patrick https://www.autoserviceprofessional...w-brand-name-for-veyance-aftermarket-products
I just used the 340 upper hose. I don't remember having to do anything major , maybe cut an inch off each end. I eventually just had the elbow added to use the GS 400 hose.
Not to change the subject but... has anyone with a 455 in a 67 skylark used the TA Performance -TA1511D- oil pan and were any modifications needed ? Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, I did read that thread. Let me explain my concern: On TA's website they state - when installing in 64 to 67 skylark some modifications may be necessary- I asked TA what mods. where needed and they couldn't be specific stating they have not installed this engine and pan combo into a 67 themselves. I am not complaining about TA in any way as they have been very helpful while converting my 300 to 455. Just wanted to see if anyone has done this swap with this pan and what if any mods had to be done.
Very nice car, I put a 455 in a 66 GS and I used the TA 455 replacement oil pan. I put a couple of baffles in it. It fit in the chassis with no issues. That pan holds 6 plus quarts, I have 50 plus 1/4 mile passes on the combination with no issues. The pan cost $165 plus $60 to put to baffles in it, total cost $225
