Well I finally got the engine in and need some advise on pulleys that have worked for you Regal conversion experts. I only have a single belt pulley for the alternator on the engine now but need a 2 belt pulley for the power steering pump. I have the 6 cylinder pulley off the old engine but the diameter seems to me to be too small for the water pump to work properly. Has anyone used the 6 cylinder pulley with success or should I hunt up a V8 double belt pulley. One other item is the power steering pump bracket. Has anyone used the one off a V6 or have you gone with one of the V8 models. I appreciate the help guys. Roger

I have been in need of the "correct" Buick 455 WP pulley for over a year now. I have even bought an incorrect-for-my-set-up WP pulley from gbodyparts.com (Brian ... cool-guy). Bruno-D (The-King) is my only hope of getting the correct SHORT-NOSE WP pulley for my Stage-1 Regal.

    I bid you good-luck.

Papa roger, you don't need a dual alternator pulley, the power steering pump works of the crank pulley.I'm surprised Chris did not catch that,he had the same in his car. BrunoD.

BrunoD, I never used a streering pump before and didn't realize it runs off the crank only. I have a single belt pulley but its an old Kenn-Bell 6 1/2 " under drive. I'm not sure this will move enough water in this engine for cruising around town, 575HP JW 470 stroker. If you you have any advise on this it would be appreciated. I'll use it if it will cool the engine ok.

Papa Roger,if the pulley's match, don't worry about it.When it comes time to drive the car,if it runs hot, then let us know and we will find a bigger pulley for you. They [TA ] sell the aluminum pulley's also, they are pricey, but if you have the cash,no problem. You can even send me an PM,I might have one for you,BrunoD.

BrunoD, I think that's what I will do. If it runs hot I'll get in touch with you and see if you have something available. Thanks again. Roger

Papa Roger thinking about it,with the smaller pulley, the car should cool more, the smaller pulley will make more turns, moving more water in the process, somebody tell me if I am wrong.BrunoD.

BrunoD that was my understanding. Air conditioned cars had smaller pump pulleys to cool the extra heat they generate and non a/c cars had bigger pulleys. Stage 1 cars used the smaller pulley because they ran hotter than standard engines. I know I have aluminum heads and intake, and my headers are ceramic coated but with the timing I'm running and the 10.5 compression I wonder if the standard large pulley will work efficiently enough.
