    Are you ?

2 Corinthians 2:15-17 King James Version (KJV)
15 For we are unto God a sweet savour of Christ, in them that are saved, and in them that perish:

16 To the one we are the savour of death unto death; and to the other the savour of life unto life. And who is sufficient for these things?

17 For we are not as many, which corrupt the word of God: but as of sincerity, but as of God, in the sight of God speak we in Christ.

Smokey15 So old that I use AARP bolts.

We, as of an Easter invite, have been attending a non-denominational church. As for me, I can identify with David from my past.

To simplify: He did many things that were "right" but many "wrongs" as well. Been there. Can't change my past. What helps is learning that no matter how far I have strayed, the Shepard will bring me back. First to admit my biblical knowledge is very limited. I wasn't raised in the church either. My parents did teach me right from wrong, but we never attended a church nor have read the Bible.

Read your bible ! that is the only way to understand who he is!
Start with the book of John.......he is in the very first chapter and then tells us how to reach him in the rest of that book of John.
His book in spite of its detractors is his revelation to men......anything else is opinion! :)
Look up the Roman road about Christianity..........that is the guide to reading his word.
I was un-churched myself to say the least LOL :)
I was what is called a "heathen" in the extreme ! :)

Oh, I better remain an observer in this thread...

On second thought maybe not; that 2 Corinthians scripture is a very powerful reminder of who we choose to be. In Genesis God says "Let Us create man in Our image". Why did He say that? He had created physical creatures, spiritual creatures, planets, stars, solar systems and universes. But He only created one creature with the breadth of God in them, the spirit of God in them; us. He did that because of everything He created; only man could reflect His glory back to Him. From Genesis to Revelation the Bible's bottom line is experience the glory of God. That is our sole purpose to reflect the Glory of God to everyone, to everything and most importantly back to God Himself. But the problem is and always has been instead of finding our image in God we try and bend God to our image. So now we have 50,000+ Christian denominations plus all the other religions man makes. Christianity is seen by so many as hypocritical because we tarnish the reflection of God by trying to form God into an image we want Him to be. However those that truly reflect His image untarnished are despised even worse because they expose the darkness harbored by those who deny Him or worse yet form their own image of Him. So 2 Corinthians 2:15-17 is a truth bomb to any foundation not built on Christ. The Pentecostal movement started out as a shiny mirror of God's glory infiltrating churches worldwide but has dulled to telling people God is just this magic genie who will grant all your wishes is you're good enough, faithful enough, pray enough or do enough works and if you're having issues with life it's your fault because you're not doing enough of...
Just stop, get in God's word, spend time seeking Him with no distractions; ask Him to breathe His Spirit back into you and show you His glory untarnished. Do not get your image of God from anyone else because no one can possibly be as clear as Christ is.
Who do you choose to be?

I was a blind Christian for twenty plus years before I realized my error and it has taken me ten years to learn the following.

If you haven't experienced God wrapping His arms around you and pouring soooo much love into you that you actually laugh uncontrollably than you haven't asked Him to show you who He is, the Great I Am!

Isaiah 42:16 And I will bring the blind by a way that they knew not; I will lead them in paths that they have not known: I will make darkness light before them, and crooked things straight. These things will I do unto them, and not forsake them.
There are four types of blind people:
    1. The physically blind and that's not what He's talking about.
    2. The mentally blind, those that have lost their minds to madness, He not talking about them either.
    3. The spiritually blind, again not what He's talking about here. You see He called the Pharisee's and Sadducee's blind.
    4. But these blind people, knowing their infirmities and feeling privation, recognize that what they thought was sight, before, was all a delusion of false righteousness. "I looked upon myself and saw fair white linen upon me but now know that it was my blindness that made me think I was fully dressed when I was really naked of God's glory". When you admit to God you don't know the way, you don't know how to achieve confidence in Christ then Isaiah 42:16 will become true in your life and He will lead you a way you never knew, never expected. "Lord lead me the way I have not known"!

    Love you guys!

Cain brought "his" work efforts and God rejected them, Abel brought a blood sacrifice which God Required for the forgiveness of sin and his sacrifice was accepted ! then Cain killed Abel for his jealousy of his brother's righteous offering!

    docgsx It's not a GTX

I keep this passage in my favorites. It’s a baseline for me to look at and remind me of what I believe and have faith in what I believe.

    Romans 1:18-32 Amplified Bible (AMP)
    Unbelief and Its Consequences
18 For [God does not overlook sin and] the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men who in their wickedness suppress and stifle the truth, 19 because that which is known about God is evident within them [in their inner consciousness], for God made it evident to them. 20 For ever since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through His workmanship [all His creation, the wonderful things that He has made], so that they [who fail to believe and trust in Him] are without excuse and without defense. 21 For even though they knew God [as the Creator], they did not honor Him or give thanks [for His wondrous creation]. On the contrary, they became worthless in their thinking [godless, with pointless reasonings, and silly speculations], and their foolish heart was darkened. 22 Claiming to be wise, they became fools, 23 and exchanged the glory and majesty and excellence of the immortal God for an image [worthless idols] in the shape of mortal man and birds and four-footed animals and reptiles.

24 Therefore God gave them over in the lusts of their own hearts to [sexual] impurity, so that their bodies would be dishonored among them [abandoning them to the degrading power of sin], 25 because [by choice] they exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever! Amen.

26 For this reason God gave them over to degrading and vile passions; for their women exchanged the natural function for that which is unnatural [a function contrary to nature], 27 and in the same way also the men turned away from the natural function of the woman and were consumed with their desire toward one another, men with men committing shameful acts and in return receiving in their own bodies the inevitable and appropriate penalty for their wrongdoing.

28 And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God or consider Him worth knowing [as their Creator], God gave them over to a depraved mind, to do things which are improper and repulsive, 29 until they were filled (permeated, saturated) with every kind of unrighteousness, wickedness, greed, evil; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, malice and mean-spiritedness. They are gossips [spreading rumors], 30 slanderers, haters of God, insolent, arrogant, boastful, inventors [of new forms] of evil, disobedient and disrespectful to parents, 31 without understanding, untrustworthy, unloving, unmerciful [without pity]. 32 Although they know God’s righteous decree and His judgment, that those who do such things deserve death, yet they not only do them, but they even [enthusiastically] approve and tolerate others who practice them.
