You need a set of the road wheels for that Electra. I have the same dilemma, road wheels, dog dishes(different then both sets you have) and the regular Electra wheelcovers. :Brow: All wrapped in new 2' whitewalls! :bglasses:
HUBCAPS??? ou: The first thing that I do when I get a new car is taking them off! That's what u should do! No Hubcaps at all is the deal! That looks best! Maybe with a trim chrome ring and chrome nuts. Maybe reversed rims, maybe even chromed. A spider cap is O.K. I think hubcaps destroy nearly any cars look. Making them look slow and boring. A 65 Wildcat is a very cool looking car with Rallye Wheels or "open" wheels, but with hubcaps the whole look is ruined. Looks like a sqaure family or grandma car, and not like sth, wild and sleek. If u want a mean and powerfully, what some here call "stealth" look, then throw 'em 6 banger dog dishes in da thrashcan, or make frisbee's out of it. They only go for sleepers or cop cars. My opinion... Help stamp out hubcaps! :TU:
I really wish I had chrome rims for my 65 but they are quite hard to find. I have a few sets of the 67-70 and 71-newer 15X6 chrome rims but I haven't been able to locate decently priced chrome rims for my 65. I have no intention to keep the dog dish caps on the 75 as they really look out of place on it but I wanted to see how they looked on it! I originally searched those for my 74 LeSabre but I don't have it anymore.
Yes, the Buick chromes are very cool, but just try it without the cap. This is way cool too! Maybe with a chrome trim ring if u want some shine... :beer
A little late but better late than never. Small hubcaps, white walls, no trim ring. Looks like a cop car, and I like it.
I really like the Olds rims with the small hubcaps. I remember there was a loaded 1968 98 LS with power disc brakes and silver wheels and small caps in my hometown. Similar caps were still available in the late seventies on the 88.
Those are not hub caps ! Those are not hubcaps! Those be wheelcovers! Hubcaps cover the hubs in the center of the wheel and... wheelcovers cover the wheel... Them be called wheelcovers, not...hubcaps! Eric :3gears:
Well then it's settled. Full covers on the driver's side and poverty's on the passenger side ....or should it be poverty's on the front and covers on the back? Maybe another poll? Rick
Hi Donald, I don't think so. Unless I just use it as a parts hauler and leave it out of the show! Maybe I'll take it there if I have the time to repaint it before. I have no intention to make a show car out of it but at least it would be presentable. We had a few inches of snow today. I had fun driving the Wildcat in it!
Wheel nut covers When the weather warms up....you need to paint your (stock steel wheels) glossy black (rustoleum). The nice thing is you can always change back and forth when you get tired of one or the other. Gotta Love It! p
I'd rather switch to chrome wheels on the '65 Wildcat (I already did it on the '75 Electra) but I have a hard time finding decently priced '65 wheels! I have been thinking about fitting my extra set of '68 wheels on it but I'd need to modify something to fit the '65 center caps on them... As for the wheels, I already painted the '65 wheels gloss black.
My opinion: Black wall tires, small dog dish caps. Gives it a younger toughness to it. Not the traditional old fart Buick appeal. And you might want to wash and polish it.
Here's a picture I took last month after I removed it from winter storage. It still has the small caps and whitewalls.
