Which dash emblem does your 70-72 have?

not including GSX did you ever notice there were two different "BUICK" Dash emblems used in 70-72's. One has a wide silver bar in the middle with BUICK on it the other has a thin silver bar with BUICK and wider black spaces with a pebble grain recessed in it. I have never been able to figure out a pattern here. I have two Non AC dashes both with one vent laying around from 1970 cars. One looks like it was made 11/69 and it has the wide silver bar and one built 12/69 has the narrow. I do not think it was an AC thing because these are bot NON. Maybe it was plant specific or different vendors? What does you car have. Include year and plant. I have some of both so will try and post picture.

My Fisher build sheet also specifies a dash emblem by a letter number code. I have never been able to decifer this. Code is called a trim pad emblem and is B22.

Did CUSTOM and GS get one style and standard another?

I have the top style dash emblem - I've never even seen the bottom pictured one.

I don't think so as I have seen both types on multiple levels and the two 70 NOn Ac dashes I have have one vent for the upper vents which were usually only found on GS and Skylark Customs and one dash has one and the other the 2nd type.

In the vert I installed a dash pad with no vents at all from a 4 door standard Skylark and has the wide siler bar on the badge. The original dash was the slim silver band on the badge, AC car with CUSTOM option.

Both the 70 non A/C and the 71 A/C equipped cars have the top one.

I do need to replace the emblem on the 70. Does anyone know how that comes off? Is it just glued on?

My car was originally a GS455 with AC and it had the top one.

As to how they are held in, mine was just held in by friction - I just popped it out with a small screwdriver when I replaced it with the GSX version.

Yes they come out with small screw driver> Some have an adhesive backed rubber piece on them and some do not. Pretty weird.

my 71 a/c pad=top one, 70 a/c pad=top one. I wonder if they had two different vendors, or the bottom one was discontinued as the B is somewhat obscured/ harder to read than the top one. :Do No:

I've always thought the bottom one was for early '70 cars and they switched to the top one from that point on. Similar to the switch from pointed lenses to flat and from clear top overflow tank to black. :Do No: :Do No:

Well, I do not think it is date related as of the two 70 dashes I have The older one made in November of 69 had the wide silver plate and the later one had the thinner type so they were both around at the same type and the thinner was made later maybe. I have also seen them in later cars 71-72. Also the B is obscured because some of the silver is missing in the center two parts of the B. I have others that are more visible. Anyone who has the thin Buick type, What plant is your car from?

my Skylark 1970 convertible has top version if I recall correctly it was built in October of 69

EDIT: could the lower one be a service replacement?

EDIT II: Thinking about it, it had me wondering so I went and looked. I actually have the bottom one. it's really faded.

The top one is on my '72 and the same one is on my spare dashpad from a 1970.
