I'm almost sure this rear end is what came with my `72 Skylark. It originally had a 350-4 motor. I also know the axles are bolted in, and the front axle tube on the passenger side is stamped LK B222 1. Check it out...

Thanks speed70, how was this determined? I've been looking online and could not find matching axle housing numbers, or other confirming information. Was it the square flange at the bottom? Thanks!

10.5 = strong like bull :TU:

This original gear with the current 27+ diameter tires would be like overdrive in todays new cars!

    Cover contains 3.42's now.

The squared off ears on the bottom are a good sign, but also the four bumps around where the axle tubes go into housing indicate an 8.5 rear.

An 8.2 rearend has a smooth center section end where the axle tubes go into it.
