Where would this oil leak be coming from?

Discussion in ''Da Nailhead' started by BamaWildcat, May 8, 2010.

  1. Symptom: I keep finding oil on top of my oil filter. I changed the oil back in November and haven't run the car since. As this was an ongoing problem I made sure I didn't have a stuck gasket that I was inadvertently doubling up on the filter.

Any ideas of what is causing this? The motor has had zero pressure since I changed the oil- it hasn't been run. I've pulled the aftermarket sender and given in another few rotations.

I'd double check its not the sender. I had the exact same problem your describing, and my oil pressure sender was the cause.

Most likely rocker arm cover gaskets... also ck to see if the drain holes in the heads are open and letting the oil drain back and not puddle up in the rocker arm cover ,,, I have seen as much as a qt. of oil being trapped in the rocker covers... causing leaks and oil being sucked down the valve stems...but nailheads sit with the rear of the engine slightly lower than the front and this causes the covers to leak at the back the most... when they leak....
