I am putting finishing touches to the engine and trans in my project. I searched here for an hour last night and saw some great engine pics, but none showed clearly where to mount it. It looked like a lot of people were using the crossover upper bolt on the pass. side, but that's incorrect for '66. Bill S. sent me the correct stud, and I checked it against my spare timing cover. The only place that looks right (lengthwise) puts it right near the crank. The shop manual has a page of illustrations, but doesn't point out the spot for it. Too, I can't find the little holder for the filter, if someone has an extra they'd like to sell....Thanks, Dan

Hi Dan-I'm having a little chuckle here-you have 4 '66 cars and are asking this!?!? Anyway the 3rd bolt up on the cover is the spot for '66-good luck on it all..

    65 not 66

    Dan,

My 65 engine had the fuel filter bracket attached to the thermostat neck. I didn't know the stud was special. Everything else on this car is "unique"... why not the fuel filter bracket stud. That's probably the reason I like it so much...underappreciated but unique.

Perhars I'm imagining things, but I think the area near the thermostat would be a few degrees hotter. Since heat rises, I like mine lower, down on the timing cover. Less chance for fuel percolation. :Smarty:
