Hello, I purchased a 1965 Riviera that I found in a basement for the last 15 years. I am trying to get it drivable, and it has low vacuum at the manifold. I hope someone can tell me where this hose should connected to. It is coming out of the firewall on the passage side. Does it connect to the carburetor or where. The motor is a 401 and it has a Carter AFB Carburetor. Thanks Dave
Not sure about a 1965 engine, but the 70's Buicks had a hose for the climate control vacuum doors. The hose came off the back of the Q-jet and went to a vacuum storage container on the firewall. Your first purchase should be a 65 Buick Chassis Manual. https://www.ebay.com/itm/1965-Buick...186447?hash=item4b4087c38f:g:HKgAAOSwLwBadNvQ
I would go under the dash and try and find the other end. That low and on the passenger side points to it being a drain hose possibly. Maybe for condensation from the evaporator?
Maybe it is a drain for the evaporator. I put a 69 Camaro together and left the drain off and when I used the A/C the floor got full of water. It does have vacuum storage container on the passage side fender well that one line comes from the intake manifold and the other into the firewall. Thanks again.
If you don't figure it out by the end of tomorrow, post again. I'll check my '63 out for you, I'll be working on it tomorrow night. I don't have A/C however, and I don't remember that being there so I'm betting it's the evaporator drain as suggested.
That looks like the drain for the ac, at least from the angle of the pic you took. I see a finned valve cover sticking out, is it a GS?
