Where shoudl the coil be mounted on my 64 nailhead? I took it off and am not sure where it goes back.. lol pics would be awesome!
On my friends '65 425" Nailhead, the coil sits towards the back of the passenger side head....not far from the distributor. It's mounted horizontally. It's always been my understanding, that an oil filled coil should be mounted vertically for better internal cooling. As far as how it's supposed to be for a perfect resto.....no idea.
I have the 2x4 set up, but I think the single 4 mounts in the same place. Check out this thread with a picture. If so that will get it verticle. I just reread the whole thread...maybe it doesn't go there. Sorry. But its worth a look. Rick
Different on a 66 I have a 66 Skylark GS with dual quads. The coil on the 2x4 setup that year was mounted on the firewall. I guess each car was different depending on clearances and stuff. Tom
