Not much posted here lately. Are the Buicks getting too nice to drive? Someone get out there and thrash something.:bla:

There are states where cars used for street racing have been seized and even crushed (CA I believe). Hardly worth the short-lived thrill, imho. I'll stick to the track when I want to race.

A couple of weeks back a yellow 70 convert with just approaching the SC line at Myrtle Beach looking for a car wash. A bright red F body Chev pulled up on his left with a young guy and his girl friend. It was a brutally hot day so the old fart in the Yellow Buick convert had the top and windows up while running the AC. The windows were down on the F body and you could just see the driver tell his girl friend "Watch this". Unfortunately for him the old fart was lying in wait looking like he was not paying attention while enjoying the cool of the air conditioned cockpit. When the light changed the F body engine came to life and started making a high pitched noise but it was quickly drowned out by the roar of the Buick 455' s through the bumper exhaust. The Buck rapidly departed the scene, tire smoke and all, such that it took a while for the F body to catch up and pull along side again at he next light maybe a mile down the road. By this time the "Watch this" driver had a stricken look on his face and motioned for the Buick driver to roll down his window which he did. At this point the F body pilot said, "Mister I just gotta ask you what kind of damn car is that?" The driver responed "Buick", the light changed, and the Bucik rapidly departed once again. This time the F body driver stood back and watched while resigned to the fact there was no point in trying to keep up.

This was at California Speedway: californiaspeedway.com They're open like every second month for street legals. They have a cut off at 400 cars so you have to get there early, it's nuts.

Check out the "Ratfink" event coming up at the track in Palmdale on July 21 @ lacr.net I've been going for the last two years and it's always been really fun.

A win, and with the top forming a nice bubble as it hits the end of the track. Mine does that too. Just crack your driver's side window about 1-2" and it will stay down. :)

I had a few good kills last month. Not much in the way of stories though. All at the race track with the Royal Pontiac Club (nice group and loves my X.)

2002 6 speed z-28. My son-in-law. I drive him nuts because his car is faster but can't get it off the line.

Dodge Magnum SRT. Pretty good car. Runs low 13's. This guy puts on some drag radials and it will be hard to beat.

C5 Z06. Club President. Drew him in first round. He spotted me .3 but I did not need them. He spun bad at the line (was doing that all day) and I was gone.

If you are drag racing those 17 and 18 inch wheels suck. Love my Nittos.

Yeah, the Skylark has power windows so its easy to bump the window down after my burn out.

Not much of a kill but thought I would tell everyone about my run in with a new T-bird. I have a long road with very little traffic that I use to test any adjustments I make to the car. There is the entrance to a fancy gated community at the start of the road with a traffic light. Caught a red light there but noticed a new T-bird comming out of the gate, we ended up side by side at the next light and I noticed this fella checking out my car and explaining it to the gal next to him. He promptly got my attention and asked to see what my car had, I just laughed and tried to ignore him.
At the green light he nailed it and got some rubber and I saw the lady looking back and laughing like they were beating me, I couldn't have that!
I nailed it and went by them while ripping the tires loose at the same time,
the lady went from laughing to a look of OMG WTF, it was priceless! The smoke off my tires was blowing right in to their faces. Not much of a kill but it was satisfying and still makes me chuckle.
