Will the wheels from a 95 chevy impala ss fit on the early rivieras which also had the 5x127mm(5x5) bolt pattern? I was told they would bolt right on... Is this correct?

63-73 fullsize all had 5x5 right?

A local gentleman here has some nice aftermarket wheels for cheap I would like to get.

The bolt pattern is 5x5" but the hub size is larger than the "standard" GM fullsized car. For your average lug-centric aftermarket wheels thats not as much of an issues, especially since many of the aftermarket 5x5" wheels are for trucks which have larger hub sizes anyway. However you might have to machine the hub opening larger, not a bad thing as it will get you hub-centric wheels again.

You gotta be careful, the big Buick wheels have lots of clearance built in to match the big finned aluminum drums. Measure before you buy...

I think Devon is right. I always guessed that it would take a 16" wheel of most other types to fit my '65-7 big cars

I'm a little late to replying here, but I was trying to find out what fits the rivs and found this post. A lot of 454SS truck owners (90-93 fullsize silverados) put the 94-96 impala SS wheels on their trucks. I've had them on two of my SS trucks with no problems. I would be more concerned with the backspacing than the hub. Remember that the 94-96 impy wheels are 17", which should clear the hub. They're also 8.5" wide, but I'm not sure on the backspacing.

You are thinking of clearing the drum itself, that shouldn't be a problem. Its the hub register that is the problem. Buick used a larger OD hub on its cars till 1964 then they switched to the GM standard full-sized in 1965. The 65 and on cars can take ImpySS wheels no problem but you'd have to machine the hole bigger for the 61-64 cars. Before 61 there was a different chassis design and I'm not familure with it.

I sent a message to a company on ebay that sells the Impy SS wheels. They said that someone else had asked about this before and that the Impala wheels wouldn't fit my '72 riv. Maybe someone was asking them about a pre-'65 car? Now I'm a little worried about picking up a set for my car. I think they would look great on there though.

the backspacing might be off, the 71 and later cars are different than the 61-70 fullsized, but the register hub size is right.

One of the SS guys measured the backspacing at 5.06".

    15x7, 5x5" Buick wheels
    71-78 Buick Roadwheel, 3 7/8 backspacing
    80-87 RWD LeSabre Roadwheel, 4 1/4 backspacing

Well I was sort of wrong, had to pull out my refference material, I am unclear if the wheels are lug centric after 1970 but it appears that the hub was 3 1/2 for the early 1964 wheels, 65-70 wheels use a 2 3/4 register and then there is just a 3inch hole with no register ring and might be lug centric like most aftermarket wheels.
