Thank you very much Mark,do you know who sells exhaust systems for 65 GS`s?also would you happen to know what size rim would fit best?and backspacing?15x7 rear or 15x8? Thanks George
cool thanks Mrco:TU: Does anyone repro the old style Gran Sport grille emblem?i know they repro the newer one? Thanks
Your car is the same setup as my '65 GS I am restoring--wish my body had been in that good a shape ! Mine is red, red interior, black vinyl top 4-speed just like yours. Only difference is mine has factory PB and AC on it. Mine is also an early production model with the small grille emblem like yours. You might have seen the pictures I took of it and put on here a few weeks ago when I pulled the body off the frame and took the frame to be blasted and powdercoated--frame is done now and I go to pick it up this weekend.
Hi Brian, yes i`ve seen the pictures you posted and it looks real nice, you`re doing alot of work to it but you`re doing it right. The `65 i bought is in original condition and from the pics i think i`ll be satisfied, too bad no A/C though,we cant have everything, lol. Thanks
Amesome find!! George, congrats!! that's a rare find, you are soooo lucky! :TU: I'm going to Utah in October, want me to drive it back for you?
Did the guy you bought it from know anything about that aftermarket shifter (looks like a Hurst) that has been installed in it? Does your car have a factory Posi rear end in it? Mine was an open differential. I swapped in a 12 bolt from a '65 Chevy station wagon and set it up with an Eaton Posi and 3.73 gears.
This one shows how bad the vinyl top messed up the roof--I had to cut the roof off of a regular skylark and weld onto mine to make a good body.
WOW!!that looks real bad,as for the shifter this is the deal, the original trans and shifter are in the trunk cause something broke on it and i dont know till i see it,the tranny and shifter that are in the car now are off another car but i`m not sure about the shifter, the car is a posi rear, the guy told me he thinks its a 3:55,i`ll check it when it gets here. Thanks
George, you gonna post some pics of your "other" new toy, the 67 auto? Or do you not want to jinx it before it's final! you must have a big garage..... Chris
If you need any help with the transmission, let me know--I have rebuilt a whole bunch of T-10s and especially like working on one out of a Buick! The T-10 that came in the GS is a special one with a high nickel content gear set in it and it has a special tail housing on it, so definitely hang onto it! The shifter is also unique to these cars.
Thanks Brian i appreciate it,i`ll let you know what it needs as soon as i see it,i will probably need some help and have some questions. Chris,i dont mind showing a pic of the `67 here it is:
George, looks good! Looks like it is coming from a warm dry climate? Couldn't tell, does it have PW Seat? Chris
Yes thats the one in Fresno,Cali.it has PW,P seat,A/C,Rear defrost and so on,its pretty fully loaded. Thanks PS-whats the update on the car u are suppost to buy?
I have two great guys from this board who volunteered to go look at it on Saturday, and we will see where it goes from there! Chris
well guys deals off for the `67 GS 400,the guy decided he wants more money for it and wants to throw it on ebay,so i guess no `67,some people i just cant understand.o No:
