What's it worth

My wife didn't take too kindly to my telling her after the fact that I bought and starting fixing up a 1972 Skylark Convertible. :error: So I might be selling it. :( I'm just trying to get a feel for what it might be worth.

Its a well optioned car - 350 4bbl, Sport Wheel, Power Windows, AC, PS, PB, AM/FM (missing), Chrome Wheels. Body is in good shape with minor rust (not through) and a scrape on the passenger side quarter (about 4"x8").

Interior needs a d/s door panel and the bench seat bottom has a tear in it. It has the original floor mats and spare with the spare still mounted as it came from the factory.

On the mechanical side, the exhaust system need to be replaced but the engine was just tuned and has great throttle response. I have not tried the AC but its all there and the car has never been molested. Engine was reportedly rebuilt but I cannot document that. I do have a receipt for a transmission rebuild.

I'll add a couple pictures shortly.

    Thanks.

The guy I bought it from got it from his Dad who bought it from the original owner in 1975. Son was a 'vette guy so he parked the car.

    Greg,
Car looks to be in fairly good shape. If the top is in working order without any tears or holes I think you can get in the 3000 to 5000 range. On ebay of course!

    Hey Mike,
Looking at the grille, it seems to be a Custom.:)
Would be a nice score Mike.
Looks to be in pretty nice shape for a car that has been idle for awhile.
    Good Luck! :TU:

I'm going to spend some time on Saturday cleaning it up and testing the top, windows, etc. to see where in the range Bill gave it will fall. The top is in very good shape with no rips or tears.

It needs an exhaust system; I have a $450 quote from the Midas recommended in my exhaust thread. Before driving it any distance, it should have the radiator flushed and the transmission fluid changed. I won't comment on the ability to drive it until I go over it this weekend.

Once its road-worthy I will see if I could meet someone local from the board for a third-party opinion.

    Bill,
You are correct, it is a Custom.

If I wind up selling it because of not discussing it with my wife(bad call on my part) then I don't know how showing up with a 'vette would smooth things over. Now if it was a straight swap for a '66 roadster then I could deal with the heat. :Brow:

Greg, if you are going to put an exhaust on the car try Jeff's Mufflers (Insane Racing) 301-855-0162 he is a die hard Buick Racer. He has done custom work on many local (and some long distance) Buicks for a resonable price.

Just how much do you want for the 72 (just wondering since I am only 20 minutes away)? It looks just like the one I have only in better condition.
