i figured with the 200-4r even the stock gs engines would be getting right around 13s.

Wow I forgot about that. Wonder if it held together. Looks like you would only need about 4000 rpm and it would be a total handfull. Now we know what Paul has to look forward to.

thier was three of us with turbo's on the nailheads. One was a young kid fron conn that put a homebuilt twin setup on a 55 international. He made headers from black pipe, threw it together with crap turbos and ebay parts and it was COOL!!! no hood on it or fenders so they just stuck out. We talked a few times on the phone when he was going through tuning it and he said the snow injection made a huge difference. it was a stock motor no work done to it with a blow thru carb. funny part was at the time i just finished my chopped and channeled 53 international pickup and working on the turbo nailhead. we both had internationals and turbo nailheads..i know he pulled it apart and was tring to get 6k for the setup and it was more rat rod ish.. the guy from sweden the last time we talked we both cracked our bellhousing. he did his on the dyno and i did mine in front of my house doing a burnout. dont know if he got it back together but did know he was running a biggest exhaust housing which takes longer to boost but gives more volume. i think he had a 76mm and a 1.01 ar which is too big for what i want. Mine is a 67mm and .81ar. max hp is 850 out mine.

hey doc, the holley they build is catered to each persons setup. no one fits all. i gave them my engine specs and boost and they specifically build they carb for that setup.. took 6 weeks but bolted it on and perfect. very professional and highly recommend

400hp to the rear would be 480hp at the crank plus or minus. the guy from sweden did run a stock motor from what i understand with cast iron manifold. not a bad idea and if i could have made factory manifolds fit i would have. bought about three or four differents sets. dyno and track time will tell.

bracket for the alternator is closer today but maybe tomorrow... hood is comming together nicely and if i have a snow day on fri i will be hopefully finishing that up.

Back to the original question for a moment...
Bob, I KNOW you will be in the 12's with traction!
You definitely have more engineering in that motor than I do in my blue car...... but I built my engine when I was a teenager (1979)! But it has run 13.40's and it's all old-school-tech, so I must have done something right!
My blue '66 features a 425 with big Isky cam, headers and a Q-jet. CR with composition head gasket and valve reliefs (to fit the cam) is likely in the low 9's. Trans is a junkyard ST400 with smaller GS converter, and a 4.11 Chevelle rear. Disc brakes, fatter sway bars, and hd springs are not best suited to drag performance. On Hoosier tires, I've a best 60 ft of 1.92. My best et of 13.41 had some spin and only a 1.97 60 ft. MPH was 101.8.
I feel with more compression, a better cam and roller rockers, and some suspension work, I could be in the 12's.
I have a back-seat video of that run that I'll try to get posted for you guys to enjoy.:TU:
Rhett, I would suggest more compression and a 'cheater' cam. And I know Tom will have lots of suggestions for 'a few hp here, and a few hp there, and there, and here...':TU:

Yeah Walt, we've been talking, and I may be close to the end of the line without having the motor come apart..and it runs too good to do that! We'll see how this season goes with the trans mods and playing with carb spacers, etc..with good air I just might hit 14.5 in stock trim.

And yes, I mean Q-Jet stock, not AFB stock......

what do you have for a intake??qjet?? i have a stack of spacers that i cant use that i wouldnt mind to donate to the cause.. or when we met at the track one day we can always do a comparision.

    hot rod magazine did a comparision between 200-r4 and a th400.. 1/4 mile was .05 -.1
really no difference in 1/4 but a huge increase in fuel milage due to the od. i also think they tried leaving in second.. read it a while ago..i would love to due the 200-r4 swap. i guess the length is pretty close to th400. what did you use for conversion?

66LarkGS, I"m using both - I generally run the Q-Jet and will for at lest my first trip to the track this spring, the for the rest of the summer I'm gonna go back to the AFB and UN-DOC-MODDED manifold to get ready for the PSMCDR in September....so I'll borrow whatever you got!

    Thanks!

Tell me! Gonna loose tenths on this one, but stock means stock. So I climb back into bed with my ill-tempered, fuel weeping 3921 AFB...sigh.

As far as the adaptor plate for useing the 2004r you will have to use Bendstens. Nobody has heard from EELCO that I know of. I could be wrong. Even if you do use the EELCO you will have to send it to Bendsten to to get tranny dowls and get the holes straightend out. Unless you feel good about doing it yourself. Awhile back 87gn@tahoe had one for sale. I have been beating on my EELCO adaptor plate pretty good and so far so good

Mabey I will bring up my EELCO adaptor and 2004r thread. Someone might like to look at it

I still have my EELCO adapter if someone wants it more than me. Brand new, never been mounted.

Good luck trying to get anything directly from EELCO in a timely manner and without endless excuses.
