It looks different than the '66 DQ brackets I've seen, but the seller states it's for a '66. Did they have two styles of bracket that year?
Ken, I am the person selling this. I got that bracket from Carmen Faso about two years ago. I assumed that it was the correct bracket. I knew that he made it, but thought that it was physically the same as an original 65/66 bracket. I know that the 64 is different due to the different switch. I have also edited the ad to state that it is a reproduction piece. Thanks,
Hi Steve- Figured you were on the board here.... I have a borrowed '66 bracket that looks different that Tom Telesco loaned me to duplicate- only it's not that easy to do so. I have most of the DQ set-up, except the front carb and the correct kickdown bracket. I was hoping to use the front carb off of your set-up and the kickdown bracket and store the rest for future use. I guess that doesn't make much sense anymore. Anyway, looks like you have a highly desireable bracket as there weren't that many Q-Jet set-ups made I believe, just not the right one for a '66 DQ. I think my best approach now is to see if a '66 bracket ever shows up for sale and modify a standard carb to accept the DQ linkage. Thanks for your patience and taking the time to answer my questions. Best of luck selling your DQ set-up, it looks to be in great shape. Take care.
No problem Ken. I have the original Q-jet set up that I'm planning to put back on, I gotta figure out how to change my signature! I need to dig it out out storage this weekend. When I do, I'll check the kickdown bracket to see what it looks like. I'm sure Carmen used a Carter kickdown bracket to fab these up. Good luck in your search.
