The pictures I posted are of Dave's engine and frame. If I remember correctly, he told me that he did have to do some minor grinding on one hole to get the adapter to fit correctly. My adapter, the same one, is still sitting in the box waiting until I get some interior and paint work done first.

If you'd like, I can contact Dave and ask him for some details.

i can only say a 4l60e vs 4l80e in a fullsize truck with same rears even though its stronger the 4l80e trucks are much laggier taking off and get worse gas mpg. from what ive gathered the 200 is probablly has the least parasitic of any od auto. its a small light strong trans. i know alot people that have went from trans like st300 and such and saw much improved performance. the only trans it wouldnt be a advantage on is the th350 or the 200c except for the od cause thats what the 200 is basically

I just was looking at Bentsens adaptor web site. He now offers EElco repair services. Mine just came back from him with needed repaires. Just thought anyone that was going to use a 2004r might want to look into this.

I used a Bendtsen's adapter to put a 700R4 behind my Nailhead. It fit perfectly with no modifications necessary. It appears to be a bit thicker then the Eelco. My only issue with the Bendtsen's adapter kit is the 10 lb. steel crankshaft extension. I had Rob Giroux make me an extension out of high-strength aluminum that weighs only a bit over three pounds.

    4L60E/700R4 low ratio...........3.06:1, .70:1 O/D
    4L80E low ratio....................2.48:1, .75:1 O/D

That 20 percent difference will make a big difference in take off feel. The 4L80 is based on the TH400 while the 4L60 is based on the TH350. I'm sure the parasitic losses will be greater on the 4L80.

The earlier ('93 and earlier) 700R4/4L60 is non electronic too, simplifying and reducing cost of installation.
