What's the best lubricant to use on creaky doors? I've tried WD-40, silicon lube, wheel bearing grease, etc. They work for a short while, then the doors start creaking again.

Back in the day, lubing the door hinges was part of an oil and filter change. We used white lithium. Newer cars don't seem to need it so much.

Check the condition of the detent lever AND the wheel that rides in it, THATS were 99% of your creaking is comming from

Pats pretty religious about taking the '18 Impala to the dealer for service. Even oil changes. She gets emails regularly regarding appointments etc. They sent her one for a "Chassis lube". I called the service manager gal thats her friend and asked her what that involves. I couldnt find anything on line about lubing ball joints etc, and she confirmed thats to grease the door hinges. Kinda disappointed at $12.50 per door for a dab of grease. IIRC, thats also every 12,000 miles. ws

    docgsx It's not a GTX

I use this on everything from Chiropractic tables to door hinges to garage door rollers and tracks, it has eliminated any squeak I have applied it to. Only available at Ace Hardware around here. $10

A Couple weeks ago I replaced the left front hub on the wifes '08 Tahoe, easy job, its from the south, so no rust, its got over 200,000 miles, and runs great, and Im determined to keep it that way. While working on it, I saw it had grease zerks for the ball joints, WTF I thought they did away with 'em, I get confused between my older Buick's and newer stuff, some newer stuff is still serviceable (trucks?) and some aren't (cars?)
