A audio section covering the best what Buick could offer plus tasteful substitutions. Tech, projects, help, etc. Just a thought.
The only audio I care about in my car is the sound coming out the pipes, and it needs no improvement.
I'm with you Ronnie. I've tried several times to remove my dash speaker with no luck. Installed kick panel speakers and they are VERY weak. I'd love to have a 5 speaker stereo system that rocks.
It is too narrow of a topic for a dedicated forum section. Just post your question under the forum section, Sparky's Corner. You will get all the feedback that you need. Georges' forum, Buick Performance, I recall, covers removing the dash speaker. So does the Chassis Manual. Additional speakers must be bought and wired to match the Thevenin equivalent output of the radio. A consequence of not doing so is weak audio output.
Only way a stereo is going to sound good is move the steering column, pedals, ETC. to the center of the dash..
i have a new two way speaker providing stereo sound to install in the dash. I think I got it a custom autosounds. I also got some kicker speakers for the rear. now just need to get my fat a** under dash and inside the trunk.
I did install some 6x9s under the rear deck, laying on my back & bolted them in nice and tight so no vibrations, added sound deadner across the whole deck and down the trunk/cabin barrier. Man do they sound awesome! Sounds like I've got subwoofers in the trunk. They can rattle my license plate, shake my rearview mirror. But the sound upfront is crap. I bought those loaded kick panels from OPGI with the 5.5" Kenwoods and boy do they suck. Maybe I need to play with some sound deadner down there too...IDK...maybe get some better speakers to boot.
[QUOTE="blyons79, post: 2945574, But the sound upfront is crap. [/QUOTE] Two 3-1/2 to 4" Cadillac dash speakers mounted side by side in the frt speaker spot. Throw away the original radio,(or store it), & get an aftermarket Jensen or JVC, etc. to match the ohm rating of the new speakers. Cutting holes in door or kickpanels is a no-no. With the 6×9's in the rear it will rock.

I think they're 4 ohms when they should be 8 ohms. Never really thought about it. I've got to pull those kick panels anyway so I can paint them brown to match my interior.
Virtually all car speakers are 4 ohm. GM had 10 ohm speakers out back in later models. 4 ohm speakers would be louder than 8 ohm speakers all else being equal. When you shop for car speakers, look at the sensitivity spec on the speaker. The higher the sensitivity, the louder the speaker will play with a given amount of power. Sensitivity is measured in decibels per 1 watt per 1 meter. Look for at least 91-92 Db.
These are about the best you can get for a 6X9. I would have put them in my truck but they didn't fit in the door panel. But then its automotive audio It sucks no matter what you do.. https://www.crutchfield.com/p_108K93IXM/Infinity-Kappa-93ix.html?search=6x9_infinity_kappa
LOL... They are outlawed in cal. too, but illegals are legal. Man the 90's sure do suck dont they??? Theres more FD&C red#5 in all that printing that goes on to warn people about eating solder and latex than I can handle anymore. Hell, the kids in the projects in Chicago were eating peeling LBP thinking they were potato chips before Zigmund Fluxgold figured out there was a buck to be made. Hello everyone; my name is Bill and I am a nicotine addict. Can ya tell Ive been practicing. Gads, give me back the 60's when life was uncomplicated... I feel bad for those NYC motormen inhaling all that burned ozone from the rail contacts. We all have to kack from something. I plan on kacking from something I enjoy. Lets smoke! (I love ya man!)... ws
It isn't the ozone as much as the steel dust. Ozone is just a respiratory irritant, so if you happen to have asthma. https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2004/01/040106072837.htm
