not sure if Wrenching secrets is the best place to post this, but secrets part might fit ;)
I have a 77 Regal with a 2 barrel 350 on it. Bought last year. haven't attempted cleaning anything under hood.
need to clean up that intake, and the used 4 barrel intake I'll be putting on the car...
any suggestions to what would work best? Clearly, can't heat up the one off the car(as warming up the on on the car will help with cleaning it)
    Thanks!

The one off the car I use oven cleaner then scrub it down prime N paint

IMO, I'd be concerned about getting the grit into the runners and have those get loose into the motor. Is this not an issue to be concerned about?

Nope, it's dry sand or in my case glass beads. Just blow out good with compressed air. Done a great many sets of heads and manifolds in the blast cabinet. All my engines run fine

some sort of media blasting is the best. obviously use common sense, and make sure you get all the media out of it. but when your done it will look brand new

Brake Cleaner is used a lot in my area for a lot of parts cleaning chores. Works great. I also like the blasting idea, then a coat of "self-etching" primer and you choice of engine paint. I painted my engine with Krylon Caliper Red, matched my red cast aluminum valve pans from TaPerformance quite well.
